    Howdy,

I'm currently trying to figure out what my new PC should consist of and it's a minefield; Ryzen, Kabylake, Skylake-X, Kabylake-X... yikes.

I'm leaning towards the i7700K *but* I see lots of threads about random temperature spikes and temperature problems in general due to a badly setup Head Spreader.

Do you think that issue has been improved for the new batch of i7700s? Can I still expect to see that issue?

    Thanks

The issue is still there and unfortunately even though Intel know they're heaters, they don't revise them to make them cooler. The way to stop heat spikes is to don't overclock! That was the instruction from Intel.

Otherwise delid the cpu and you won't have temp issues.
