iiNet is purchasing 100 per cent of the shares in both Internode and Agile. Internode and Agile will continue to operate as separate business units within the group, retaining their current staff and offices. The current management team, including founder Simon Hackett, are all continuing with the company group.

Under the transaction agreement, iiNet will pay $105m for the deal, in a mixture of cash and shares. Subject to appropriate procedural conditions, the sale is expected to be completed by 29th February 2012

This will make Simon a very, very wealthy man I would assume.

Hmm. Wonder what that means for the various plans ... or moving between the two ISPs.

I left netspace because of the even more shitty service. Same better not happen to internode.

Well technically they've done the opposite from dying - merging to become a bigger combined company so ner =D

This could be huge.. contemplating looking at iiNet's prospectus now and investing!

For now. It only took 12 months after acquiring Westnet before there were redundancies.

This doesn't sound like a win for the consumer.

    Wow, that's pretty big.

Wonder if iiNet will improve Internode's plans?

I have an acquaintance who sold his dial up internet business to OzEmail about 20 years ago. Hasn't had to work since.

On the plus side, I've stuck with Node through some twisted loyalty. I won't feel so bad about switching now.

when they buy other ISPs, they hike the price by about 30% while lowering your service level and quality (so its more inline with iinets own pathetic pricing and service).

if youre on optus instead of agile hardware expect to be put on telstra adsl1 after the merger <:

Same. I have been with them for just over 4 years now and 6 years in total and I have never had a problem and found their customer service to be fantastic!

I will be interested to see what happens with this though.
