    Hey guys,

Got a pair of Headphones the other week (just a set of Plantronics 2). Nothing too fancy. But I'm noticing the volume isn't particularly loud, even when I've got its volume all the way up (on cable control) and OS volume set to 90%

Is there a way I can get it louder? would introducing an amp increase volume?

then you can look at some sort of headphone amp, or a halfway decent sound card.

Yeah, I'm looking at getting this: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/headphone...r-ha400-4-channel-headphone-amplifier/990400/

And possibly a soundcard. My motherboard has limited PCI/e slots accessible due to graphics.

How do you think that headphone amp would go?

The motherboard is a H97I Plus BTW. It's supposed to have decent sound as it is?

I may not actually have the audio drivers installed... (Other than generic ones Win10 installs?)

    Sites not loading for me?

But if that's the site I think it is, I've looked at it already (they had a useful page for deciding whether you need an amp or not).

Didn't have the drivers installed, but it hasn't really made much difference...

So just bought a Behringer MicroAmp (HA400) $60 posted off ebay.

Got a lot of good reviews and stuff. Since I can't get a soundcard, this is literally the only other option :D

At least now I'll be able to hook up both my speakers and my headphones...

Hate to tell you, but they are only $45 new with shipping...

You probably wouldn't want to run speakers off it as well, as it outputs an already amplified signal, reducing quality.

Could have gone a USB DAC with a headphone amp.

I saw that, but couldn't find any with stock/in australia. But I'm ok with the cost. If it does the job and I get what i need out of it I'm ok with that.

Just curious why you have windows volume @ 90% instead of 100 if you want it louder?

Cause having it at 100% would make me feel like it's too loud :D

Like, if I have it at 100%, that's absolute max. Doesn't make any sense, but yeah...

Wouldn't want you to harm your hearing. :D

Most ppl. who understand what they are talking about seem to suggest having windows volume @ max and adjusting with the external amp. if you have one.
Something about bits being removed by windows volume control...

Yeah thats what I plan to do. Then I'll use max windows volume and vary the volume on the amp
