I was toying about doing something similar - but probably 18 or 20 core - they're not so painful in the wallet area.

    What's the gaming performance like?

That 24 core can turbo up to 2.3Ghz on all cores?

Spill the beans, ES is engineering sample.....

The only official 24 core Broadwell-ep processor I can find is Xeon E7-8890 v4 ??

    Above is wrong:

Broadwell-EP's Xeon CPU with the most cores are the E5-2699 v4 and the E5-4669 v4

    The Xeon E7-8890 v4 is actually a Broadwell-EX

but the screenshots show Broadwell-EP, yet 24 cores!!! Confused.

Yes. Spill beans please! Surely the 24 core isn't on the same sized chip, that's crazy. I'm more than happy to help test it on my new setup :)

I went ahead and ordered what I mentioned before. Thanks Scorptech for your help!

Most importantly how does 3DMark physics go with it?

Probably not great with 3DMark physics as I don't think it's set up to take advantage of so many cores.

On the memory side of things it runs fine on DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LPX 2400. However can't go above 2400Mhz but have had timing down to C12 12 12 34 1T

This cpu runs at such low temp I might try running a graphics card water block through the 140 rad as well and see if it will work ok.

Correct me if I am wrong but 3Dmark scores can't be validated with engineering sample CPUs??

You would probably know more than me on this one.

Would it be ok if you could run a firestrike run and see what the results are? :)

All out WR es is allowed so it might say invalid or some other shit but the screenshot will do although global to 20 (i think) want a link.

I only have screenshots of my runs in W7 due to typically running lan and audio disabled from bios.

Hmmm. I ordered this RAM but is it even compatible with X99?

    It should be.

I am guessing the reason why it has only Z170 chipsets under the QVL is cause it's a dual channel kit not a quad channel kit

According to the G.Skill website it is not a qualified quad channel kit.

Sure it should boot up and show all the sticks in the bios and "work".

But it will be "luck of the draw" whether the IMC on your CPU and also the board will work with the ram in terms of reliability and overclockability.

    Basically,

Quad channel motherboard = buy a quad channel ram kit.

Dual channel motherboard = buy a dual channel ram kit.

So the only tridentz ddr4 quad channel kits that are listed are these

However, when the kit arrives, if the serial numbers on the four sticks are sequential, you should be fine.

Weird. Scorptech says it is quad channel in the description, but it then says dual channel. If it doesn't work then surely I'll be able to get a refund.

Certainly no one in the right mind hahaha.
Unless you can use the cores, it's not only slower, it's hexy as well.
I notice with the right app, the cores justify themselves, but these are mainly business chips.
