Finally broke and decided to grab:

    • Intel Core i7 6800K

    • MSI X99A Gaming Pro Carbon RGB Motherboard

    • Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK32GX4M4B2800C14 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 Black

Hope my Corsair H110 closed loop can cool this thing with some O/C.

I am actually also sick of all the colours and LEDS and am quite happy with just a plain old fashion Green board.:D:D:D like one of those Supermicro ones...

Also for the Asus X99 Strix ROG what do you mean by the vertical M2?

Looking forward to some oc results!

Anyone know when I am going to be able to get my hands on a Rampage V Edition 10?

So is everyone selling there 5960x yet? I'm thinking of building a 6900k system if i can't find a 5960x for a decent price.
There's so many x99 boards for sale. Are there any with integrated gpu's?
Also are there any new features coming out with the new motherboard revisions that are worth noting?

Nope - none of the HEDT have integrated GPUs.

With the price of the 6950X's, I suspect most 5960X owners will be hanging onto them now... no benefit in changing to the 6900K IMO

Yeah i was waiting for the 6950x but it's an insain price for 2 extra cores. Seem hardware manufacturers are really out to guage people while amd is out of the picture. In between the 6950x and the nVidia $100 extra 1080 fools edition card i don't feel like surporting either company. But got no choice.

    Hey everyone,

Sorry haven't been keeping up with this thread as actively as I would like, the Pascal thread is taking all my OCAU'ing time.

Since it was mentioned a few pages back any retailer has to process the RMA for the entire warranty, they cannot direct you to the manufacturer. Retailers are also obligated to reimburse you for return postage under ACL if the product is confirmed to be faulty:

    https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/c...s/repair-replace-refund#returning-the-product

As Radley mentioned, feel free to shoot me a PM or just ask in this thread if you've got any questions!

They paid a reasonable fine when prosecuted for it by the ACCC a few years back.
Since then, I can't recall them shirking their warranty responsibilities.

Good. They're fucking crooks. I don't know why anyone shops with them.

PCCG have the Asus X99 ROG Strix in stock for $599. Same price as Scorptec, but if you ask nicely you may be able to get a discount from Scorptec :)

I started this thread to discuss Broadwell-E, not to whinge about retailers....

Do that elsewhere and keep back on topic please.

The ROG STRIX X99 looks managable in terms of price. I was looking at the X99 A-II initially. Don't really like the STRIX's orange accent. Apart from that, the differences that I see are WiFi + Bluetooth (which I don't need), Crystal Sound vs SupremeFX, and the price tag. Would the STRIX be a safer choice if I plan to push the 6800K to 4GHz? Oh, and also the "8 Phase Digi+ III VRM" of the STRIX.

Instead of being flat on the board the M.2 sticks out perpendicular.

I'll provide some OC results once I get my 1080....

Bah, nick down to MSY (or some random forums) grab the cheapest PCIe card possible and get CLOCKIN!
That way, your CPU will be bedded in and balls out for the arrival of the 1080
No wasting precious days of 1080 time optimising your CPU OC

There are no little stores near me unfortunately. Hopefully I'll be getting a card next week, but time will tell.

Ok, I'm looking at the 6850k, with the Strix mobo, the Corsair 115i cooler - and I was thinking either of these memory kits (2x the first) from Scorp:

    G.Skill Trident Z F4-3600C17D-16GTZ 16GB (2x8GB) 3600MHz DDR4
    Corsair Dominator Platinum 32GB (4x8GB), PC4-25600 (3200MHz) DDR4, 16-18-18-36, 1.35v,

Any thoughts on what'd be best - slightly better timings at 3200Mhz, or the higher 3600? I plan on trying to overclock to around 4.4ghz. Cheers.

    Edit:
    Then I found G.Skill 32GB (4x8GB) PC4-25600 (3200MHz) DDR4, Trident Z, 16-18-18-38-2N,
They're at a really good price too, I think I'll just pick those.
