    hi,

I know its most likely asked before but I am rebuilding my ATX tower and its been 10yrs since i last confessed... oops wrong forum.... LOL I last built from scratch around 10yrs ago so a little out of touch with current specs.....

So I am wondering on what Intel Processor and mainboard combo is going to be a good platform for PC games, im into Battlefield, Flight sims, F1 etc....

    I will go for 16GB ( 2 x 8GB RAM )
most likely a 6GB 1060 GTX Graphics Card......

I would really love to know your personal preferences, examples of your builds.

I don't have a bottomless pit of cash so keep it realistic....

    appreciate any help.

    rich k

If set on Intel wait for Coffee lake to come out and grab a non K i5 (6c6t) or i7 (6c12t) depending on budget.

Or you could go AMD and build a nice system with a 350 level board and 1600 cpu. Spend the extra on a 1070 or Vega 56 card. Would be a nice system.

I play BF1 on a 7700K & FuryX combo. I have also used 7350K & FuryX and did notice a reduction in FPS but nothing aweful.

My HTPC even runs BF1 on a skylake 6100 paired with a gtx760 but it isn't a flawless experience. If I get around to throwing my 970 into it the experience may improve somewhat.

I was running a 3750k and saw terrible bottlenecking if even one other application was open and I was playing Siege. Wait for Coffee lake and let mainstream Core dual-cores die.

But I agree, AM4 B350 with a Ryzen 5, or a Coffee Lake 8600/8700 with a... B350? (I really hope it's not called that...) or H370 board with it would be plenty, unless you plan on Overclocking, but why would you do that if you';re on these forums?
