Last week we introduce the shape of MSI P35 Platinum, now the retail
version have some positive change with their box design.

New box use special vacuum shining design similar such like NBA/MLB player
cards style to enhance the metal level quality.

    Another MSI P35/G33 Platinum intro.
The difference with last time P35 Platinum we post is DDR2+DDR3 combo
design, also with VGA port when use G33 chipsets.

    Motherboard outlooks.

    Up right side
    6 DIMM with 4 DDR2 and 2 DDR3 dual channel design.
On beginning age of DDR3, this is the better design on the market.

    The special circu-pipe design
Although the new chipsets is not hot just like 965/975,
But all 3 main motherboard manufactories all use big pipe design.

    The IO ports,
G33 Platinum will have 1 D0Sub out put.

    Test platform setup.
    CPU:Intel Core 2 Duo E6420
    MB: MSI P35 Platinum
    DRAM:CORSAIR TWIN2X2048-10000C5DF
    VGA:ATI X1950PRO
    HD:Seagate 7200.7 80GB
    POWER:Corsair HX620W Modular Power Supply
    Cooler:ZEROtherm BTF95+WFB1212H 12cm
    [IMG]

No over voltage on chipsets setup.
    CPU:500X7=>3500Mhz
    DRAM(1:1): DDRII1000 CL4 4-3-9
    Dual Super PI32M passed.

(On MSI P35 Platinum, C2D E6420 can reach FSB505~507MHz with out any
extra chipset or CPU voltage adjustment, this E6420 is almost same limited
with DFI 965S board, but my friend’s C2D can reach FSB533MHz, the C2D top
    limited depends.)

Stable on FSB500 setup with 3D Mark test result.

    3DMARK2005
    [IMG]

    3DMARK2006
    [IMG]

    QX6700 also stable on FSB456MHz.

This time MSI have high level design on P35 series products, they did swap
the old products 965 series with bad overclock ability and design quality.

High value box design with huge Circu-Pipe design, 2 eSATA on back panel,
also comes with shinning debug light, all the improvement shows their
    determination to revolution.

The first minute they shows 4 P35 series products, 3 Platinum version with
black PCB and Circu-Pipe, 1 red PCB version with DDR2+DDR3 design.

Look forward on all manufactors with new generation P35 series with better
design, then consumers will have more choice on the market!

    Next test

What is that cooler? Looks like a butterfly of some sort?

What will they come up with next? Bird shape?

WWM... why does that name seem familiar? I have seen that somewhere.

    WWM

can you take closeups around the CPU area so that we can find where the vcore mod points are (for droop IF THERE IS ANY)

also can you take some shots of the chips on the motherboard.......looking for PLL chip for support for SetFSB or clockgen :)

Just some fancy design, looks spectacular but nothing else than a few square cm more cooling surface. But why not? Compare this with the "dull" previous generation MSI PCB.

It would be nice to get some benchmarks with this board. My last MSI board, a 965 Neo something was "disposed" after a few hours for its lack of oc headroom.

Good! The board looks sexy, but I really don't "trust" MSI when it comes to tuning and overclocking . :p
