Still no official news. Rumors still seem to centre around end of this month.

Some good news floating about. Word is that Intel have confirmed price to be around US$363 for the i5 model, and that both i3 and i5 will ship within the next week to distis.

Hanging out for the i5 version, especially for the ir receiver, means I can get rid of one more thing under my TV, and greatly improved grunt over my Celeron NUC.

I'm planning on moving my parents to D54250WYK systems in hopefully a passive chassis. I'm hoping AKASA release something like the Newton V for the Haswell systems.

Otherwise I'll have a go at getting my own version machined and anodised

Also I wish the damn NUCs had a better naming convention. I have to google the Haswell NUC kits every time I want to talk about it

With the IR, I'm hoping this will easily replace my ATV2 with XBMC!

My bet is that it's not using hardware acceleration

Have you looked in the bios and set it to a quiet profile?

Also, have you updated the firmware? I have the Celeron NUC and initially, the fan ran at full throttle because of an issue with the upper and lower temp limits. A firmware update fixed these, I now run on quiet profile and never hear it, and it never goes over 70 degrees.

Thanks for the tip, got mine yesterday works awesome with Openelec(XBMC), tested on a BD rip of LOTR 1080P DTS 5.1, plays flawlessly with skip forward/backwards works with no delay.

Set graphic memory to 512MB as I'm running 2x 4GB SODIMMS.

Well, ordered my Intel 525 120GB SSD and 8GB DDR3 1600 this morning. All I need now is the NUC. REALLY hope they're available by the end of the month in Australia.

Third-party cases will likely have space for a 2.5" S/HDD. Also.

Personally, the mSATA-only sized NUC is perfect for me. With a shit-tonne of network storage, I see no need for more than the 240GB Intel 525 drive I have waiting for release day.

I'm about to pick up a Gigabyte i3 BRIX NUC, planning on using it as a media centre as well as streaming for Steam when that goes live.

For those of you using a NUC as a HTPC, what remote and software are you using? I'm currently only planning on getting a Logitech K400r keyboard/touchpad combo, and running Windows 8.1 (I only want to stream MKV files from a network share, so this is the simplest for me to setup). I am interested in remote control options though, maybe ones that supported motion controls on Windows 8.1.
