Sweet, wonder much power this thing suxs.
we should be seeing the MCP100 on X38's too ... probably asus i guess
oh man, that looks awesome!!!
Not according to the article. Nvidia gave a little speech about how this is going to be it for intel SLI, and if you want some other board with it there are plenty of 680I boards available.
Dual Quads! for cheap.............
thats what I have been wanting. Bugger the posers for SLI....8 core goodness for a searious workstation/server on the cheap!
yup but as if asus are going to listen they know its possible now
but it wont be cheap
i can certainly see this line of boards as my next upgrade after 680i.. DUAL Quadcores .... FARK, + SLI... i want
Bloody hell. Yet another reason to spend your hard earned dollars on PC gear.
It was always possible. That doesn't make it any more or less likely. It's entirely Nvidias choice if they sell MCP100's to asus or not, and why would they. Who would buy 680i if they could get SLI on an Asus X38 board?
This could be the basis of a monster folding system...multi ATI GPU clients + 8x CPU cores....
At first it's impressive, but half way looking at the pic i noticed not all the caps are solid..
Wonder why they didn't follow through with it. They've gone most of the way, then stopped.
Either way, kickarse board!
It's an early reference board, i'm sure you'll see solid-state across the board amongst other tweaks and refinements by the time it hits town.
I'd be tempted...if there was anything that knew what to do with that many cores that I actually use.
wait, did I mention FBDIMM's, intels horrible memory bandwidth that just gets worse with each additional CPU & that the cost of that baby would get you 3 + upgrades which would probably have you getting 40% more performence in anything your likely to do anyway?
another review, checkout this image aswell http://www.legitreviews.com/images/reviews/568/intel_harpertown.jpg
Nice, but would the board be strong enough to hold 2x Thermalright Ultra 120s?
That would be nearly 2kg weight and a ton of torque on the board.
And can you imagine how much heat this board with 2xQuad-cores + 2x8800 Ultras in SLI would be absorbing? Ouch.
hmmm drroooollllsss I LIKE!
oh btw the case. Would u guys know if its the cm stacker 830 or 831 ??
It managed to hold 2 Zalman 9700LED's which are only 26g a peice lighter, I can't see why not?
Looks like the CM Stacker 830.
