I'm thinking of getting a 7920x. If I can do 4.5-4.6 all core once delidded I will sell my delidded 7820x.

Playing around with memory timings on the 7800X and running CB15 at the moment. Seems the imc on x299 is quite good.

Sweet results there. I managed 4000cl17 at .690mv VTT and 1.38dram - my 7900x does the same. I might try and dial in your settings and see how it goes.

Did you manage to stability test at those settings?

My SL failure may or may not have been a result of my Asrock X299 Taichi deciding that 1.45v VCCSA and 1.41v VCCIO were acceptable XMP auto voltages...

It died in two days. was working great for the first two days. then it started to BSOD at lower and lower clocks untill (within about 24 hours) it wouldnt POST at stock settings.

1.45 isnt that extreme have you gotten your replacement yet?

I would ahve asked for a refund if I was you as SL do not warrant the replacement chip they send out, so if it does die again your up shit creek.

Gamers Nexus did a video on 7900X thermal problems with the stock thermal paste compared to Liquid Metal.

I'm looking to expand my Delidding to include 2066 CPU's

Is there many people here that would be interested in the service, or is it a "meh" "shrug" issue for you all on these?

Edit : just looked back, looks like there is a few of you guys already going for it yourselves. Maybe, maybe not then.

    7900X + Rockitcooling delid

    The results are in:

    4.6GHz @ 1.165V
    Cache: 33x @ 1.18V
    AVX: -3
    AVX512: -5

Don't see much improvement at idle at ~30 deg
Prime95 Large FFT: to mid 70s. Was mid 80 deg.
Prime95 Small FFT: Used to reach thermal throttle limit very quickly, but now moves between 99 and 100 degrees.

TIM used: Cool Lab - Liquid pro
Impression on the delid tool: Very easy. Perhaps too easy for disassembling a CPU worth USD999.
Tip: Literally half a grain of rice TIM was enough to handily cover the chip. Similar amount for the underside of the IHM was also used.

TL;DR: improvements were not as impressive as the ~20deg shows in GN video, but enough to make me itch for the higher count CPU.

    Now the memory tweaking remains.
