Another nice touch is that iOS 12 comes with a new app that's actually very useful - the Measurement app, which uses augmented reality capability to let you measure any object. Supported on the AR-capable iPhones (SE, 6S and newer) and iPads (Pro and latest iPad). Seems fairly accurate in my testing so far.

Meanwhile iOS 12.1 beta came out yesterday and seems rumoured for final release sometime next month.

12 is on the iPad Pro 10.5, and downloading to go on the iPhone 7.

Feels good on the iPad so far. Very snappy.

Why? Has 12 broken your favorite site? :D

Whilst I was bent over in laughter at that one no that’s not the case, it was just one of your regular liveleak/theync type sites.

I have installed 12 on my 8+, and so far so good. I haven't really noticed a speed increase as such, not sure if that was expected with a newer phone.

Also, haven't really noticed a massive interface change - I will have to do some research to see what has been added.

The new measure tool is cool, but I think it needs to be re-calibrated, because it is WWAAYY off when I measure my dick.

It’s true that the app uses AR, but there are limitations as to just how much it can augment reality :upset:

    Another thing to note;

I have a ‘10 Mazda 6 - and when I updated my iPhone from a 6s to an 8+ last year, Bluetooth audio playback would cut out - I believe it was disconnecting and then reconnecting every few seconds.
Whenever I used my wife’s 6s for audio playback, there would be no disconnects - so it definitely was my phone, not the car.

Since updating to iOS 12 - I tried Bluetooth playback, and on a short drive this morning, no disconnects with the iPhone 8+.

I will give it another go on a long drive when I’m back to work next week!

    Which apps?

The only apps I can see on my devices which are no longer supported under iOS 12 are really, really old and no longer installed - Death Rally and Plasma Globe, which I last used in 2012 and which weren't updated for iOS 11 either. That's because it was iOS 11 that removed support for 32-bit apps, which was a major change.

Interesting, I'll see what I've got that may be bricked.

My iPad mainly has work related stuff though, most paid and constantly updated (RTA analysers, Omnigraffle, Sketchup viewer etc) so should be safe. The iPhone, on the other hand...

Running here on Phone 5S .... Confirmed. The inappropriate lags of iOS 10 and 11 seem to have vanished.

Running quite nicely for me on my 6S, I'm happy with it so far. If only they'd put a tethering icon somewhere near flight mode...

I take videos of things almost constantly with mine and it's never happened to me.

Updated my old 6s from 10.1 yesterday. I am shocked at how snappy iOS 12 is. It's faster than it was on iOS 10. No springboard relaunches yet. Extremely impressed with apple.
It's a bummer that older 32bit apps no longer work but oh well...

Incidentally the update process was painful. It repeatedly failed on my phone. iTunes then bricked my phone and I had to restore my backup. Annoying.
