ios 4.2.1 is available in around 10 min, for those that are awake?
I wasn't but couldn't sleep so came to see what was going on.
Going back to bed but will check it out in the morning when it's updated
I'm going to miss my orientation lock from the switch though
I'm hoping that some guy will make a cydia app that will let you choose what setting gets changed by the orientation lock switch.
That'll be one of the reasons to jailbreak!
The only jailbreak now available is tethered so patiently waiting for an untethered solution to be released. Cydia isn't compatible on 4.2.1 yet.
Just a quick word of warning, iTunes doesn't check if you have enough disk space to back up your iPad, so it bricked mine while doing the upgrade (as OSS ran out of space). I had 30gb of photos on there; luckily they are backed up elsewhere.
I ended up restoring it, ie: putting 4.2.1 on it, via another machine. I then tried restoring a previous backup, but it hang 7/8 the way through the process - some things were restored, eg: email settings and such, but all the photos and 99% of apps are gone
Nice bug, add it to the list shall we?
lol kidding? just a list of problems that people are having with 4.2
Somebody has already made a "NoMute" Cydia App to allow the mute button to stay as a mute button!!!
so is this worth going to yet? i'm still on JB'd 3.2.2... i kinda want game center... lol
I don't find Game Center as anything special.
Multi-tasking and Folders are cooler.
Is there a proper jailbreak for 4.2.1 yet?
The multitasking/suspending of apps is really worth it I think - makes things feel snappier not having to load every app from scratch
I've given up on vlc, it's a buggy piece of crap.
The apple vid player is miles better, as long as you have your stuff re-encoded.
Which defeats the purpose. Try Oplayer HD and Buzz player.
VLC performs a lot better on 4.2.1
No more freezing after 5-10 mins.
I was using 4.2.1
my 2 year old uses it and he stops/restarts vids a fair bit - in vlc the audio often goes miles out of sync and sometimes weird things happen like the speech drops out or becomes very quiet etc.
in the apple vid player it's perfect, and it can play 720p files so they look a lot better, though i doubt my little bloke cares
I just got the iVew app and I have to say that it is a nice app. Yes, it is a bit rough around the edge's (formatting of images, Layout and colors)....
BUTthe content is there!!
There are so many shows to watch, I'm discovering a few myself that I'm liking.
I encourage you to get it too.
yeah been using all of it on my iphone 4... just want it on the ipad too... lol
i upgraded... going fine so far
i have ripped some cds tracks to mp3 format. Im using these right now for my mobile.
Is it possible to transfer these files to the ipad without reripping them? thank you
