Hey everyone, have an iPhone here at the school I work at that was handed in a few days ago, no one has claimed it. It's locked to an iCloud account is there anyway to find out what the account might be?

There is a way to find out via Casper but unfortunately this phone isn't enrolled in our MDM.

Any ideas or should I just keep it in the draw hoping someone claims it?

You'll need someone to claim it. The info is encrypted by default, only way to get the details is to take the original receipt for the phone to the Apple Store.

put it in recovery and connect to itunes, perform a reset/upgrade - during the OOB setup you will be challenged to login to icloud and will see the email address used.

If no one claims it, after sending out an email... I presume the student or staff would have to unlock it to prove its theirs.

But if no one claims it, send it to police, could be possible someone found the phone on the way to school than just dumped it because its locked.

Not that I know of and I come across alot of this at the school, the quicker way is to restore the device depending on how long the device is locked for.

Nup, and you'll have to wait for the time to count down fully before you can restore it via DFU.

Slightly re-lated great program called recboot for mac, plug in the iphone/ipad and then it slaps it in recovery mode for you, great if the home button is busted up.
