Hopefully they are out in September. I had the iPhone 6s and previous versions before that but switched to Samsung since the S7. Currently have the Note8 and it's a great phone. I will be switching back to Apple for this latest release and see how it goes. I previously got the iPhoneX but took it back for a number of reasons, screen was to small, wasn't customisable as much as Samsung Note8, missed the S pen for marking up plans for work and overall restrictions with Apple. Things I want/miss are AirPods connectivity, general apps for the devices I have and future devices I want to get. Currently have 15inch 2018, AirPods, want to get the new Apple Watch when it comes out.

I'm neither an Apple/Samsung fanboy. It's always a trade off for me and would be for most uses. Hard to get everything in one phone. Will be interesting if I get it and keep it. The 14 day return policy is a god send and takes out the buyers remorse. Buy and try, I love it.

They were boring last year and they'll be boring this year.

They should bring out a super slim 3.5" phone, that would be exciting. Every other phone in the world is a phablet, so by all means keep selling them of course but imagine...

Hmm, I just thought of an advertising campaign, have imagery of a bunch of boring people on a bus or train all with their faces lit up by their phablet screens, then some attractive person pulling a super thin 3.5" iphone out of their jeans coin pocket and start chatting about, I dunno, whatever attractive people talk about. Kind of like the 1984 campaign but... reimagined for the next generation of tech needing a shake up with something new

add some cringy line about how a phone is "for those who want more out of life" or something, et voila

I was hoping to get the iPhone XS Max 256GB but the prices are just getting out of control, I can get a MacBook Pro for the same price. I don't doubt the build quality and that the A12 will absolutely destroy any other phone on the market though.

Considering it’s kikely one of your most used electronic devices it’s not that bad given it’s use cost

I agree with you - it's definitely my most used device every day, however, I still gotta have a $2000 laptop as well because the phone isn't capable of performing the same tasks. So the overall cost of covering my computing needs is still increasing for very little additional capability.

Alright, so fairly boring announcement there. Here is the 6 min wrap:

The X R 64gb is the only one that piques my interest. Although my main gripe with my current 6S is that 16gb just isnt enough storage. Given that i get a phone allowance against a plan through work, ill consider the X R, but also the iP8 64gb if it drops significantly.

Was the cheapest 13” MacBook Pro with 8gb ram and 256gb SSD when I needed a new computer. Maybe $1900ish (I can’t remember exactly) but close to $2k anyway.

I tried cheaper windows laptops with equal raw performance but I just couldn’t stomach windows as an every day machine.

I don't see enough innovation to justify the pricing.
