Thanks - I had not even considered letting the kids have my OP5 as a hand-me-down.
    I'll look into it :)

Back onto the original topic, I have to say I don't feel my XS is any faster than my X
No noticeable difference noted with the camera either.
The el cheapo iphone X ebay cases I bought last year work fine on the XS.

Wife's work will probably buy the XR as they feel the XS is too pricey.
That'll be an upgrade from the iPhone 7 plus - smaller phone with bigger screen.
Still expensive, but that's what happens when you want to stay with iOS.

Am picking up an XS Max 512GB tomorrow as a replacement to my X. Will see how it goes. Also feel a bit stupid spending almost $2400 on a phone, but what can you do.

Curious (and wary) about the size of the phone, but i suppose that's what the 14 return period is for

Yeah, the X is still a top tier phone. Why did you HAVE to upgrade?

    I upgraded my X to a Note 9, I'm glad I did.

Why? $500 screen replacement and I was pretty sour about it.

I wanted the bigger screen and dual sim. I'm so sick of carrying around 2 phones. Just hoping Telstra will support the esim ASAP after ios 12.1 final is out next week.

Also, i salary package it so it ends up costing less than half the retail price, which means when i upgrade again next year and sell this one, i'll actually make money.

It's a fantastic feature. My last phone the S8 had this but I had to purchase a grey import though. Just allowed me to have a cheap phone plan and a cheap bulk load of data on the other sim.

Yeh. I imported an S8 dual sim also and used it for a while to run my personal and work sims. Having just the one phone was great, but i found the implementation of the dual sim to be really flaky.

I figure that if Apple have implemented it, it'll probably work smoothly as expected.

Also, i got the phone today and holy jesus it's gigantic! We'll see if i get used to it over the next week or so.

iPhone XR preorders started yesterday, and it looks like demand is softer than expected, because there are lower lead times between pre-orders and expected delivery. Checking the Apple AU store, I can see that delivery times here are also normal, whereas the XS and XS Max quickly developed a two week delay in delivery times due to strong demand.

If the XR fails to perform as well as Apple expects, I wonder what their strategy will be next year. Will they release an even cheaper model?

How so though? You just nominate what each sim will be used for, and make phones calls using the sim number you nominate, each time.

I had numerous situations where people would call me on my secondary SIM and it would go straight to voicemail when i wasn't on the phone, the phone indicated both SIMs were available and i got no notification.

I also experienced issues sometimes when i wanted to make a phone call, it would open the dialing window and sit there but never actually connect. I'd had to toggle flight mode on and off to get it to work again.

I've had this on iphones, couple years ago with my iphone 6S+...missing calls, no sounds, but a missed call icon. Seemed to fix itself.

Don't think it's limited to dual sim phones.

Well the XR is out. I was at the Apple store briefly this afternoon to grab something for my dad, and I noticed a few more people than usual. The salesman said the XR reception was pretty lukewarm but OK. The phones themselves looked OK to me, the screen is fairly nice but I feel it lacks the more natural look of the OLED. It was also too big to me, my X is already as big as I want to go.

Anyway anyone who bought one want to share their first impressions?
