so after a few months of being on the market, is the iphone 6/6+ got most of the bugs worked out? Is it worth buying one coming up from a 4S and if so which one 6 or 6+?

Really annoyed that the 6, which i think i would prefer size wise, is seemingly so cut down from the 6+ specs wise (excuse the pun). Dont really want to wait for the real one to come out next year with its sh*t in gear, especially as the wifes 4 is almost dead and i can just pass down my 4s to her.

oh apple why do you do this, just get it right first time ffs. Really dont like the laggy and poor interface on the andriods, but i dont want to upgrade by half. As you can see by the 4s, i will prob keep the phone for 3-4years.

I don't really think I've encountered any bugs, iirc. Only occasionally I might have had some apps crash and close....but reopening straight away is usually fine. Probably to be expected with a new OS anyways.

Absolutely imo. It's always subjective but I reckon it is even if you just value your screen real estate. To determine between the two, well that's going to be your own choice, I can't decide for you. If you can't get to a shop download a template, print it out and see which you prefer.

I'm loving the huge screen and the size of the 6+ is not a big deal for me. Takes some getting used to but I'm enjoying it.

thanks. but i have held both, the size isnt an issue.the 6 is maybe a little disappointing after seeing the 6+ but mostly unhappy about the cut down battery and other specs on the 6 :(

What other specs? The battery is smaller because the phone is smaller and they can't fit a bigger one, and the camera lacks optical antishake for the same reason. Thats... Pretty minor dude

not if you have kids, and a wife that cant take a photo in focus to save herself. camera is important, so is viewing. if the 6 had higher res and better camera ois it would be a no brainer, as already have a tablet. aaaaaaaahhhh.

cheers for advice though all worth thinking about

If they did that they'd have nothing to release in 12 months

Very happy with battery life on the 6+. No recharging since friday.....used the phone normally with a few calls here and there, and some browsing and apps....and still sitting on around 60%.

    Bigger battery paying dividends

I hope they go into the future with this size phone lineup and not start reducing them again.

My 5 was always charged at work all day, otherwise it would barely make it by around 8PM. Now the 6+ is getting significantly more use every day, zero charges at work, 8:25PM now and I've still got 55% left.

Bigger battery certainly played a part, but don't forget age (3 years?) and OS optimisation - the 4S was originally released with iOS 4 or 5? Getting to iOS 7 would have bogged it down.

This is the first time I looked at iPhone battery stats. The 5 had a barely bigger than 4S battery (1440 vs 1430mAh) but more screen and pixels to drive. Space constraint I suppose. And from the couple complaints I see, seems like OS optimisation wasn't able to overcome it. Good to see the 6 had plenty of battery real estate AND Apple are releasing iOS 8 updates targetting performance.

Currently in the second week of iPhone 6+ ownership and tbh I'm loving it. My initial iPhone ownership started all the way back from the early release of the iPhone 2G (thankfully I have mates that travel.. a lot) all the way up to iPhone 4. Then hopped over to the official Android train with the Galaxy Note 1, 2 & 3.. after 2-3 years its been rather boring.. particularly because every other Android manufacturer have hideous designs and lack quality (besides HTC.. but I hate the button layout).

I've owned many other Android devices but the Notes were the only thing that had huge leverage over the iPhone, but now iOS with the 5.5" screen couldn't be any better!

The battery on this thing is insane! it demolishes all of my mates iPhone 5S's & 99% Samsung mobiles in comparison. I've missed using Cydia & the amazing layout features you can do/use (even tho Android has tonnes more) but the home screen/lock screen & switching between apps is incredibly smooth and doesn't show any slow-downs at all. The 6+ feels lighter & slimmer then the Note 3 whilst not having the crazy overheating issues like the iPhone 4S & newer had.

Only downside is that the thing cost me too much for the 64GB version..

Have had a strange issue with my 6 with Telstra this month. I apparently used up 1.5GB of cell data in the first 3 days of this month. Rang and spoke to a Telstra consultant 2 weeks ago and tweaked a few things on the phone like turning off cell data when inside wifi range. I also printed off my detailed data usage showing me the times i am using this data. It corresponds to me being on the bus for 30mins (return) per day going to work. I don't stream movies, only read news articles and ocau forums on the bus... definitely no pornz.
Spoke to an Apple genius yesterday who got me to browse news.com.au (my regular site) on Safari for 10mins and in Data Usage I used up 200MB . Not sure wtf is happening but just wondering if anyone else has had excessive data usage on the new phones. Currently with a week left of my plan, I've hit 4.5GB of data. With my old iPhone 5, I would struggle to get hit 1.5GB a month.

I've had this with my 5, it was ridiculous. Fortunately I nipped it pretty early so I didn't get excess charges but I had to put up with 2 weeks of no cellular data and wifi only. Hasn't happened yet with my 6 Plus.

Where's that setting to turn off cell data when in wi-fi range?

Well it could be a few things. Is Location Services off? Have you got any other iOS devices that are automatically synced with each other (ie. You download an app on one, the others will auto-download it too). Have you configured each individual app for data usage? (Settings > Cellular > "Use Cellular Data For:"..)
