OCAU Iron Chef Rules and Discussion Thread

Time for another Iron Chef! The winner of the last Iron Chef was a tie between myself an Aussiehusky. So we got him to choose the theme ingredient, which we will now unveil ...

    Cheese

    Take note of the dates:

Open date: Sat 20th March 08:00AM
Close date: Sun 28th March 24:00 midnight

    RULES
    - Only ONE course is to be prepared
    - The theme ingredient must be used in the dish
    - No entries accepted before or after opening and closing dates
    - you MUST submit photographs of you preparing the dish as proof that you cooked it. At least four pictures, one of which has your OCAU username on it.
    - make sure that your post complies with the geek food guidelines.

    JUDGING
As per the previous iron chef, there will be two polls.

The entrants only poll is open only to people who have submitted entries to OCAU Iron Chef June. At the close of the competition, PM your vote (3, 2, 1) to Ma Baker. You may not vote for yourself. The winner of the entrants poll is considered to be the winner of Iron Chef June, and has the right to select the theme ingredient for the next Iron Chef.

The people's choice poll is open to everyone on OCAU to vote.

Shame about the one course thingy, I had the perfect three course meal planned :p.

Now I have to try and cram it all into one course!.

I believe it was the 3 courses that was putting members off entering as they felt they couldn't compete. I may be wrong though, that's just my personal opinion. That's not knocking you guys either because you've put an enormous amount of effort into the competition.

I am considering making my Iron Chef debut for this... I'm already creating a dish in my mind!

I have no decent camera equipment, and last time I attempted to take photos of something I cooked, they didn't come all that great... I'll need to do some research into lighting techniques, to get the most out of the P&S I have availabile to me!

Cook in the day, and take photos using natural light.

Thanks for the tip, that should go a long way to help remove the over-powering yellow that was creeping into the last set of food photos I took :).

Is there anything in the rules saying that you can only enter once? If you have 3 entries then wouldn't that still keep an even playing field? You can't judge 1 dish v's 3 dishes fairly IMO. If you put 3 good dishes forward then you have 3 chances of winning but at least each dish can be judge on their own merits but still someone might put 1 great dish forward that blows the rest away.

    Just a thought!

No it's just one entry per person.

Cheese, hmmm? Gosh, if I didn't like it so much, this might be an easy decision! Now, I have to not only decide what variety, but what dish will best reflect that! *Sigh* Ah well, the dish is guaranteed to taste good, with CHeeeeeeeeSE! :D

A new bottle shop just opened up around the corner with an extensive range of cheese. I'll have to stick my head in again and see if they've had their fridges delivered yet.
