Iron Chef: Pizza - Announcement & Discussion.

Ok, the first of the regular Iron Chef competitions I thought I would choose something dear to the hearts of most of us here on Overclockers, Pizza.


There are many different types of pizza:

The Italian pizzas: Sicilian, Neapolitan, Romana.

The American pizzas: New York, Chicago, Detroit Styles.


However, wikipedia defines a Pizza as an oven-baked, flat, generally round bread that is usually covered in tomatoes or a tomato-bassed sauce and often mozzarella cheese, with other toppings added according to region, culture or personal preferance. Which gives us a pretty broad slate to work with, anything that falls into the above description will be allowed entry into OCAU: IRON CHEF TOURNAMENT!

People may enter a single pizza only, or a meal in which pizza is the main component.


So, how is this going to work?

Ingredients (I'm particularly thinking of the base) can be store bought or made from scratch, but anyone that orders from their local takeaway or similar will be disqualified!


People have two weeks to decide if they would like to enter and the competition proper will begin on the 1st September (wait for the thread before posting). At least three photos must be taken, ingredients, a work in progress and the finished product, each of these must have a card with your username included. It is encouraged that people share their recipes. People have until midnight on the 7th to enter their creation and voting will begin not long after finishing on the fifteenth. At the end of the week, OCAU IRON CHEF will be announced.


So, the time has come to answer lifes most savoury question. Who's cuisine reigns supreme? This is... IRON CHEF OCAU.

i dont really see the point, as pizza is not about presentation and is about taste. and you cant taste stuff over the internet.

hmm I've not enterered one of these so I might do it for fun.

I can make some pretty fucked up shit though so my pizza will probably be a pizza base with a bit of EVERYTHING on it.

Video is also acceptable. Remember, it's voted by the people, and if there's something that OCAU'ers like more than Pizza, it's a good story, so keep that in mind all when submitting your entries.

Edit: also, remember to wait until the 1st to cook your pizzas! Of course you can do some warm-ups between now and then, but the competition pizza must be cooked between the first and the 7th!

2nd Edit: And I've just had confirmation that the winner will get a custom status under their name of IRON CHEF OCAU, lasting until the next Iron Chef is announced.

Do you have to wait till the 1st to cook or prepare toppings that may appear on your pizza?

 

Pizza must be assembled and cooked after the 1st. If you require ingredients that take a little time to make and cbf doing it all in one day (for example, say, charring and peeling capsicums or making some sorta sausage or whatever) then that's cool. But the pizza must be baked from the 1st onwards.
