I'll probably have another go at this, just can't seem to get an interesting composition.
Anyway... I have lots of these "things falling apart" in my backyard!

Be Careful what you wish for

Phillip Island, Vic - Monday 12th March, 2007

It was an early morning on the Phillip Island Grand Prix race circuit. The sun had just risen over the ocean horizon. Only peace and quiet. The engines fire up for the first time drowning out all the noises. Pops from the exhausts echoing within the pit garages. Time goes by just as fast as the bikes at the end of the straight. It is now 11am. As they prepare to go out onto the race track, i head off to get a better view.

    "Siberia" - Turn 6.
The track is now dry and the sun is shining through the thin cloud cover. I say to my friend "I want someone to crash so i can take photos of it". He replies "Be careful what you wish for". As we get out of the car, all you can hear is the sound of the bikes revving to max revs. The sound from the engines can be heard from over 500m away. Roaring down the straight before entering the first corner. They are going quick. Three laps go by and we are taking pictures. As one of my friends comes around the corner, we start to take photos once again, pointing the camera in the direction of the corner.

He passes with great speed. Still pointing the camera at the corner, i hear "Oh sh@t". It was my friend. I turned an pointed the camera as a natural reaction. Whatever it was, it had better be important. As i turned, i noticed an accident. Still holding the shutter down as i turn. It was in fact, "Rab", as we call him. The Yamaha R1 had slid out from beneath him and was toppling through the grass. Before i knew it, it was over. I had stopped the camera and started running towards my fallen friend. My heart beating to the sound of the loud drums. Im running with a camera in one hand, and a cigarette in the other. Im getting tired. A sigh of relief as he gets up from the ground. But he is holding his wrist. I was worried. Was he hurt?

As he walking towards us. Limping. His visor still down, we try to talk to him. Rab, who we guess was still in a little bit of shock, opens the visor and says "Did you take a photo of it?" with a great big smile on his face. I nod my head with the relief that knowing he is okay. He is taken into medical care for a check up and is released a slow 15 minutes later. He is okay. Not a scratch or a bruise thanks to his Dainese Sukoi suit.

Saw this by chance yesterday, ran back again today to make sure it was still in this state, and snapped photos like a crazy woman:

    In more ways than one...

As usual for noobish me, no PP, only resize. I thought about cropping the 'dark' bits at either side, but then I'd lose the interesting fork on the left.
