    Let me see...

Where's my list ? Ahh got it.

Right. Fed cat, done washing and put rubbish out.

There was something else. What was it ?

    Mow the lawn ? Nope.

    Vacuum the carpet ? Nope.

Ahhh, that's it, post a new challenge topic ! :D

Official April 2005 Theme : Derelict

End date: 10pm AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time) Tuesday 31st May 2005.

No photos taken before this post will be considered. Please note the closing time is Eastern standard time.
Thumbnails should be less than 200 pixels wide, for ease of viewing and I would suggest that the linked larger photo should be less than 1600 pixels on the longer side.

    Iron Photographer - May Entries

    Good Luck

    Dna

Edit: Didn't realise that it was the theme for Sept '04.
Edit2: Anonymous entries are now accepted. Pm me title, photo link (Ugbox) and optional short blurb.

And here's a link to the entries from the last time this topic came up. Worth a look if your struggling for ideas or just a look anyway.

    Theme changed.

    Derelict.
    1. Abandoned property, especially a ship abandoned at sea.
    2. A homeless or jobless person; a vagrant.
    3. Law. Land left dry by a permanent recession of the water line.

    Apologies for any confusion.

The link to last years topic brought back memories as I had a shot planned but my camera didn't arrive intime, but now with a well used camera I might be able to get that shot or something better :)

Nope, one entry per person. You may change it up to the point of the challenge close time.

    Edit: Read the rules here.

Awww, btw what is the origin of the 'iron' in the iron photographer?

Thats a very good point. A big equalizer would be filesize and dimensions.

We "could" consider having a maximum filesize of say 250k and max size on the long edge of 800 pixels. That way P&S users wouldn't be as disadvantaged as they are now.

Having one entry forces you to critique your own work and pick the best.
Your camera is not the limiting factor, your mind is.
They have the Iron Chef, we have the Iron Photographer. :D

    I like it!
But yeah, perhaps a limit on resolution to 1024*768 or similar? Otherwise people with dodgy cameras just can't get the clarity. What are you marking the photos on? General appeal/framing/contents/thought or what?

Some of the best photos in the world are blurred.
And they were done years ago on cheap film cameras.

The photos aren't 'marked', people submit a top ten list, these are compiled and a top ten voting thread is setup. Here's one I prepared earlier. :D

There is a wide range of people entering the challenge, using all sorts of cameras. why not just have a go.

You could also create a new thread with three or four images for others to critique.

Just to let you know I won the July 04 IP with a shot taken on my Nikon Coolpix 4300 P&S... I think you need to go and read up on what Ken Rockwell has to say... Actually I think a few members in here need to read it

So true. As for the term "Iron": it is about us photographers sticking with it come what may, be it rain, hail, or lack of acknowledgement.
