I'm thinking about building this exact system. Would the stock cooler fit in that case?

I think the Wraith isn't going to work in that case as is. Although it will physically fit, just, there is nowhere for it to breathe. I can't even see the facility for a single case fan? and the Wraith will have no more than 10mm clearance from the case panel.

You could consider a Noctua NH-L9x65 SE-AM4 cooler to give it an extra 20mm clearance, but I'm still not sure where it would get its air from, or how it would exhaust.

Perhaps a suitable case mod would be in order.. you could cut a 180mm square in the case side, directly above the cooler, and install a 200mm magnetic filter over the hole. That would allow both intake and exhaust avenues for the case, and also allow you to use the Wraith. Just a thought...

    X264, X265, VC1 at 720p,1080p,4k would be good
years ago there was a x264 L5 clip called "killa sample". it was a bunch of birds flying over water basically and wasn't that long. but that was a mad clip to decode a few years ago. not many machines could play it. it would be great to see APU % use while that plays (i bet it's bugger all)

I'm not expecting the cpu consumption to be high, just a mild interest as a comparison to my 6800k APU
Naturally the new HEC videos should be less cpu power on the 2200G

i doubt my current APU would need much more than 150W. Maybe 200W to be on the safe side if I had all the drives that sgt bilko is running in his rig. I have a 300W because they were actually cheaper at the time :S

scaling is always good. nice idea if the extra dosh on higher speed ram is worth it or not (well, where it stops being worth it i guess??)

True, I might have to wait for it all to come together to actually move my lazy ass to mod. If modding I might go over the top and put this cooler on. Given it's HTPC I want to either go low key or just some RGB statement. :D

i found a youtube version of killa sample, and also dug up a copy i had locally
here is the cpu usage on a surface pro 3 (2160x1440p)
    youtube
    [IMG]

    mpc-hc64 local copy
    [IMG]

here is the cpu usage on my 6800k. APU at 2000mhz video at 1080p, Northbridge at 1800, ram at 2000 (basically stock i think)

and that an eye opener that is. marvelous what a difference a few years makes in cpu/apu dev
a few years ago a lot of PC's would struggle to play that clip. i realise its all in the gpu side of things but still.. x264 at L5.1 was unplayable for a long time :)

Whats that 2200G got in it Sarge ??

    MUTMAN This one?

If so I'll get some testing done over the next few days, at present the rig is being used to catch on some movies so I'll need to steal it away and hook it up to my 4k monitor to test this and some of the games people are wanting to see :)

Think older gaming titles is where systems like this will shine.

Thats the clip. See if you can download the x264 Profile L5.1 clip. Its about 96meg or so :)

Edit- no hurry. I might be able to upload a copy if you cant find one

Most definitely, Looking forward to Firing up GOG Galaxy on this and going back through them all :)

If you could upload one that'd be good, just so we're both using the same copy, better to keep things consistent :)

Downloaded so I could play too... then realised that of course you are testing onboard graphics. I don't have any, the 1700 has no graphics  I'll probably pick up a 2400G later this week, so I'll stick it in then and try it out.

Id still be interested in the comparisons Ratzz
I dont know if killa sample is much of a system breaker these days...
I might have to chop up a 10bit 4k atmos hevc movie for the next sample.
Mechanic Resurrection is a terrible movie, but the scenes are shot well.
Encoded in x265 at a silly bit rate with loads of fast movement scenes, it could be this generations next killa ?
I know the old 6800k certainly isnt a fan of it (no x265 sadly, something the 2200G/2400G is meant to breeze through)

that's mine with the same ram but an asus board(the pc casegear bundle) and a 2400g the ram to put it politely sucks :) 2666 is the safest on that board for me but of course a little tighter timings.
never got around to gaming had other things to do but I wil get to it.

temps wise I,m using an AIO but the 2400g does heat up a bit more than the 2200g especially when you lock the graphics on high in the bios.

love the things to death though, built another rig for someone else and the team extreme in the asrock board sat happily at 2933 using the the default xmp/dcop settings.

so what I want to see form yours is temps and power usage. performance I,m pretty much got :)
oh and a 960 evo m2 works very very well in the 2200g setup I was surprised how quick it was.

3000 c16 works out of the box on my end, I'll get my power meter out at some point and do some checking as well but I do know that it's using less than 150w

Played through VLC Media Player, everything at stock :)

Just got Skyrim and Fallout 4 installed on it, Warframe is giving me some issues moving files over but I'll work it out.

Thanks for the usage graphs

Interesting that the cpu goes up at the end like mine did, but seems you have usage around 50% or less of mine, and that decode graph is sweet.
What OS ? I dont have a GPU tab of my 6800k under win 7-64 home.

I'll do a 4k x265 sample on the weekend and upload that and see how it goes if you dont mind.
I dont have to guess how the 6800k goes. It aint pretty, cpu boosts to 4300mhz and it still drops frames. guessing the differences will be massive on the 2200g and 2400g

Windows 10 x64, the GPU tab was added in the Fall Creators Update iirc

I do have a couple of (CHIMEI Inn) 4k 30mbps and 60mbps clips that I tested as well and the usage was roughly the same there, Clip is here if you want to try it: http://4ksamples.com/4k-chimei-inn-60mbps/

OK i grabbed gpuz to see whats going on inside my little apu
That 60mbps clip played well. Nice and smooth.
When the lobster is spinning around was peak usage for me. The 6800k hit 80% at 4300mhz cpu and the gpu jumped to 844mhz and around 60-70 % usage but very spiked. 6% then 70% back to 6% about every second or two.
Edit- my x265 4k sample is a lot more hard core. Brings the old a10 apu to its knees ... I'll try to get it done soon.

Either way, very impressive performance for a quad core 65W (?) APU thats the lowest performance model AMD make. Crazy good value for money

echineon Just finished the Sortie for Warframe on the 2200G, Played through on my own custom settings which is usually Med-High for most things and Elemental FX etc turned off and I was averaging around 60-70fps at 1080p and 45fps at 1440p and temps peaked at 59c CPU and 62c GPU, HWiNFO was recorded a peak wattage draw of 79w for CPU + SOC.

MUTMAN Here's what that clip is like for me

Disk D is going nuts because I've been transferring all of my video files to it while doing all this :p

Wow. Thats some low usage %'s
That rig will eat my other 'killa sample' for breakfast easy :)
Once my current 1080p TV is EOL I'll be going to a 4k panel and a 2400G combo to drive it
