    Really? ;)

They are funny, and half of what they report is true ;) Even my Japanese friends are giggling.

Absolutely, I have it booked marked in my phone and tablet and it's always good for a laugh. Sometimes they have decent travel-related stories too.

I'm Australian but Chinese descendant. Can't get any white gene off me. :upset:

Anyway, what's the best way to get AUD to Yen in Perth? Been looking around, highest exchange rate I find is buying off AMEX. Today's exchange rate is 92.24.

    I freakin' love this thread.

I've got a question. I've got a group of about 6 of us going snowboarding in February, and we're going to tack on a few days in Tokyo at the end of the trip. I've been to Japan a few times but not really with a group, only with partners at the time.

Can somebody recommend a good area to stay? I'm trying to find a place on airbnb that can accommodate all of us (6 or 7 guys - so separate beds is preferred). The general Shibuya area would be great because I've had a great time exploring there in the past, but it's a bit tough finding places to stay in that area. We just want somewhere thats got some good atmos and interesting things, or at least close to.

    Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately not as good as I thought. The rates on their website is only for transferring money to japan via bank transfer. Their cash rate is much lower. Amex exchange is still highest so far. And Yen has begun to dip again! :upset:

Have you compared to Travelex online order and pickup? Can't remember the rate but it was 91.x yesterday but I didn't post it as it was lower than the Amex rate you quoted.

A few of my better snaps from Kyoto - I feel in love many times whilst there - June 2014.

Here is a group of five young ladies in Kimono's - at first I caught them off guard:

Once they saw the camera they rapidly warmed up and struck "the Japanese pose":

Be still my beating heart - don't aggravate the wife - LOL - she doesn't dress up for me like this sadly:

We saw a few couples getting these "taxis" and quite the sight:

    When were these taken?
Look surprisingly warm for this time of the year.

These Kimonos are called "furisode". They wear them only once, and only at one specific day: 12 January, "Seiji no hi". "Coming of age day". Girls reaching the age of 20 wear the furisode on the way to the local shrine to get the blessing of adulthood.

Edit: I got this wrong. A second look and I found these are not a furisode kimono. :D Looks actually more like summer kimonos.
