Sitting in Hong Kong airport at the moment, on my way back to Australia after 3 weeks in Japan & South Korea. Japan is absolutely mad during Halloween (they probably get into it more than the US). Shibuya was hectic, had the best night in Roppongi for Halloween :p

did you like south korea? i didn't really like it that much. the only good thing about it was the food - everything else was either boring or depressing. Japan is way more fun!

SK is ok, i would like to go back and spend a bit more time there. There isn't that much touristy things to do there (DMZ was a let down) shopping, food and the girls were the best parts.

Japan is like 10 times better of course  already planning my next trip ha

Japan has a lot more to see and do if you're adventurous. SK you need like a dedicated guide to see how it is.

Trying to work out what is the most cost effective rail pass to purchase.

Heading with family and we will be doing the usual cities of Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto and also visiting Mt Fuji and Hiroshima.

Are there any passes that can be purchased for just Mt Fuji and Hiroshima or is it easier to get a nation wide pass.

You want a JR Pass - try and get the Green Pass:

Yes, Green Pass is the better class - although some Shinkansen also have the "Grand Class" but I think that is for a very few.

We always get our JR Pass from HIS so do shop around.

Well, the weather app alleged that it would snow, it's just quite cold right now...

Sadly, only 3 nights, but I'll take it  Hopefully longer next year...

It snowed since early morning but stopped mid-afternoon. Nothing heavy, just a bit of sherbet.

To anyone that has not yet been in Japan, because I keep forgetting this every time I go, due to the unique and interesting way in which Japan deals with cigarettes, you'll have no smoke to deal with on the streets, inside bars, restaurants etc, though, prepare for every person being on an epic chain smoking catch up binge...

Just goes to show, nothing is every truly perfect...

Has anyone gone on a Sake brewery tour in Tokyo/Kyoto/Osaka?

Looking to book a tour for my girlfriends dad on our trip at the start of the year.
