I'll be in the Ryukyu Islands in the middle of typhoon season next year. Planning to be a little flexible in the island hopping...
Hope you guys are doing alright! I left just before it got bad but was up in the air as it was happening as well.
Oh, Tokyo is fine, just bad weather when it hits, its basically been like this - nice weather for at least half the week, shitty weather on the weekend, so I cant really go visit anywhere (work during the week).
It was raining from the moment I landed on Friday night until Monday afternoon when the Typhoon passed. Spent plenty of time in bars and ramen shops but that was the plan all along . Not sure if others have had a similar experience but I've gone through about 4 umbrellas because I keep leaving them at bars . Just booked a ticket for the Tokyo motor show next week, super pumped that it's on while I'm here!
Blargh - I only have one night in Tokyo next week - shame. Was hoping to pull 3 or 4 nights... To top it off, my Tokyo partner in crime is in Singapore for business, so I'm on my own! Trying to figure out if I'll pull an all nighter somehow, or try and get a room somewhere nice and close to Shinjuku for an easy trip to HND. Must get myself a week at the end of January... Z...
Wait... What are the dates for this? Could be an interesting way to blow a few hours before bars and ramen... I get there on the 9th... edit - never mind, finished on the 5th. Z...
No need to answer but what do you do Z? Curious After my recent trip I'm now just constantly thinking of Japan haha. Maybe time to get a job with some travel benefits lol.
Staying near Dotonbori over upcoming Chirstmas hols. Looking for suggestions on non-touristy places to eat/see in Osaka and Kyoto Some of the things already planning to do: dontonbori/kuromon Sake Tasting Shimada Shoten Harukuma Sushi Maguroya Izakaya Much thanks k
I was recommended by a local in Osaka to eat at a place called Fukutaro - it is definitely on the touristy radar but even for the locals they serve the BEST okonomiyaki in town. Loved it. DenDenTown is awesome fun between Kuromon Market and Dotonbori if you're into anime merchandise etc (it's the Osaka equivalent of Akihabara). Unfortunately for me I did all the generic touristy stuff in Osaka so I don't have non touristy suggestions.
yeah I love Japan. I may be posting this from a Yakkitori place on Piss Alley in Shinjuku, after many beers.... Z...
Oh well, my plan to visit Japan for sakura next March/April has been canned as my employer has advised that due to operational reasons no leave will be approved for the period from March 5 to April 22 Will look at planning for 2019 sakura instead
Its a roll of banknotes that can also be used as memo paper (blank on the other side). There is also an envelope in the package if you want to pretend to give someone money. Oh yea and a piece of cheap chewing gum lol.
