Way back in the day I played one called EF200. Was incredible for it's time (circa 95 or so). Since then nothing that I've played has come close.

Picked myself up another copy off Ebay not too long ago (including an original copy of the manual :D ) that installs and runs inside dosbox. Still as good as I remember it :)

DCS Black Shark for rotary (though it's a weird CACR thing), DCS A-10C for fixed wing. Check out the start procedure for the Shark.

If you're after older (WW2) stuff IL-2 is still the best option, and dirt cheap on GOG now.

got a logitech extreme 3D Pro for BF3 and absolutely love it - I don't use logitech gaming profile software, apparently this causes problems for some people.

+1 for IL2 and its derivatives.

Go here - this is where a lot of that community communes.

Oh and back OT, I've had a Saitek X-45 HOTAS for ages and find it pretty good.
No doubt later models are shitloads better :)

When I looked into it there were reports of build quality issues. It does seem to have a nice layout though.

The only lower-end joystick I've seen with unreserved recommendations is the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro.

The logitech is considerably cheaper. Will look into it.
Looks wise the saitek takes the win for a long shot for me. The logitech looks cheap and plasticy. Im considering getting a rat7 aswell and they have similar style.

The saitek evo ay. Will look into that one aswell.

The Cyborg Evo has a good reputation iirc, it's just out of production.

The Thrustmaster T16000 is also worth looking into if you can find it.

I had a RAT7 for a while, I liked the ergonomics and look but it died pretty quickly. Sensor just stopped tracking properly.

Ok so i just bit the bullet and bought the fly 5 and a rat7. Have seen a few issues with these but more positive ones then negative. Should have them by tomorrow arvo then its game on!
