Some are up to 6 years old, but every one i have tested so far is 3.7 volts. No bulging. They all have full cell protection, some have flying leads, some are solder points. There is at least 300 1070mah cells, 70 2700mah parallal packs, and honestly not sure, maybe 500 810mah, along with countless 1650mah cells with flying leads. Brand new, never used... i dont know that the hell to do with them. Anyone want some?
Already 3d printing some holders for make some 4P units, and 3S batteries. They have short circuit protection too. Tested it on purpose I think first up is a camping pack, and second up is a large bank of 14P4S for my little girls electric cart. I'm literally surrounded by lipo.
adding to the stupid ideas.... see how many you can get through security for carry on... adding to serious ideas.... they're pretty small (physically) re-pack other battery packs for more capacity?
I am actually using the 3d printer to create new packs to replace things that use lead acid. blower for the camping bed for example.
Just finished assembling a 4P 4S pack, waiting on the balance charger module before i set it up, but its good so far. Will test it on the weekend. The cells have built in current protection so that might be an issue with making higher current packs, well.. i have so many of them, i will just put more in parallel!
None, just hard wiring them. Im using 4s modules from ebay that have current protection and charge balancing built in. I do have a proper lipo charger though for my RC cars and does 1 to 7s, 5 amps charge.
I would love it if you could spare some of those 1650mAh or 2700mAh packs - I've been wanting to make a power-pack for phones for a while as well as a couple other things I could think of. I haven't touched any electrical stuff in AGES but ive just bought my first house so there is ample workshop space, existing solar panels (of which i need MORE and some power storage ) so perhaps time to start another project?? I had an e-bike project about 5yrs ago - picked up HEAPS of old laptop 12-cell packs - dismantled everything, resoldered in 13s4p and now i have ~51v@20Ah. 1.5kW motor liked to throw the chains and bend the jackshaft I had all over the shop... good proof of concept I say. I discharged the battery a little for storage 5 yrs ago - i just tested it then and still holding about 44v! where abouts in Brissy are you? I'm 10-15mins NW CBD Side note - I need to find a mobility scooter... for no reason of course XD
Why when I see pictures of these I think "pillow batteries!!" (because of their tendancy to turn into little pillows when mistreated, right before they billow smoke or burst into flames). I used to have a few of them myself, and they were crappy cheap ones that puffed after a few flights. I took them camping once and we blew them up in the camp fire. You could probably use the 2700mah ones to make a mini power wall. Making a monster power bank could be fun too.
I wouldn't be too surprised that they aren't high discharge cells, maybe 5C if you are lucky. I have still made a few battery banks out of them, i have a "powerbank" made out of 12 2.7ah cells, and a dedicated protection board, and damn it has some capacity. Can charge my large vape mod (2 18650 samsungs) about 4 times before requires recharging.
