Just wondering if unick thermal paste can be used as a dilectric grease

    As in title, im going to be setting up a water chiller and im expecting som condensation, so i was just wondering if i could use unick as a dilectric grease.

    i wouldnt try it, if you want to stop condensation, follow what other people use. you can scab on some things but scabbing on condensation retardants isnt wise. Plus the paste may react to the condensation, and the temps?

    If you wish your CPU to resemble your username - try it :D

    They are completely different products with completely different uses.

    Otherwise go to any auto store (I bought mine from Repco) and purchase dielectric grease for about $10.

    yeah thats what i thought, its just i read a thread on here where someone stated that you could use it, I was just trying to confirm that.

    Thanks memphis i wasnt too sure where i could obtain some grease locally

    you can use cheep unic paste no worrys.......its just a bit harder to cleanup....

    so astro66 i should have no problems with using unick as a dilelectric grease, its just i want to put it on my cpu pins.

    Ill prolly sttill get some proper stuff just to be on the safe side

    PHATE-ALITY: Using unick in your cpu socket (and on cpu pins) is perfectly alright. I know many people who use unick in their cpu sockets with vapochill's, and it does it's job well (prevents condensation).

    now thats what i wanted to hear thanks very much, i might go buy a big tube of it tommorow.

    just to clarify that we are talking about the same unick, its the white thermal paste that can be purchased from dick smiths among other places. right?

    if so thanks to all that replyed and soon you will get some piccies of my chiller

    Yes Unick white thermal paste is safe to use in your cpu socket assembly (and on cpu pins )perfectly fine
    Cleaning it up *out* is another mater all together :p

    i got some on saterday at DSE ....10ml syringe of electrolube HTC
    $3.50 .....enough to do 5 or so installs :D or they have a big tube for 10 or 11 bucks :D

    ive been using it for a while now no problems.....its been running pretty much 24/7 for 6 months ...not one bit of moisture around the cpu ....... :D

    i pulled my system down on the weekend to set it up in a custom ally case ive made :D 400mm x 400mm x 400mm cube....mobo in the left half(removable tray)....vapochill up the top of the right half....psu at the lower right side ... drives and chill controll/power switch at the front :D

    CRC Contact cleaner (spray pack) will get it out, handles artic silver too, especially usefull for cleaning out AS from under BGA chips (ram ect) on video cards.

    I see you're experanced in things thermal ;)
    Quite correct, CRC Contact Cleaner in an aerosol can is very efficient in removing thermal paste and the like from those hard to reach places
