Ok so mine is running 5ghz stock voltage on x41 kraken

Temps get to 90c load but does not crash. I only run it for 5 minutes at those temps as I don't like it that hot.

We need to delid the beast. Anyone point me in direction to do this? You need a tool? My practise delid didn't go to well lol

Second CPU is ok, but must have the worst paste job ever.

Hits 90's at 1.33v for 5GHz. Will still bench at 1.4v at 5.1/4.5.

I see you guys are pumping out the vcore, how are your temps staying within 90C? I put in 1.3 to try and get a stable 4.6ghz (which was heaps, I'm sitting on 1.2 atm) and I was almost hitting 90C?

Do temps stop climbing as quick at those vcore ranges? Say if I wanted to push for 5ghz for the lols with my i5 7600k.

 

Some of those temps are insane. No wonder people are considering a delid.
If intel did the lid properly, surely it should add almost no heat to the thing, right?

 

Just got told by a friend to not test using the new Prime95 and use 26.6 instead. Temps look much better as they dropped 10C across all cores.

Sitting comfortably at 70C max heat test as opposed to 80C. Hopefully it'll get better with the paste settling in.

But yeah, I remember my 2500k getting better temps? Maybe it wansn't as hot outside then.

[edit] I've been able to boot with 4.6ghz @ 1.1vcore! Currently stressing it with P95 so we'll see if it holds up. Curious as to how low people have been able to go. Yeah, going for the big 5ghz is the main goal but I'm too scared of the heat.
I don't think this will last a whole night but fingers crossed.
Also temps are now at a very comfortable 60-65C which I'm much more comfortable with.

 

The biggest temperature inducer I've found so far is LinX. Shit's intense, is good

 

So I finally had time to sit down and not rush things. I got a really clean 5.0Ghz @ 1.27v 74c. I set Uncore to 4.5Ghz, AVX to 3, VCCIO is at 1.15v, SA is 1.2v an the RAM is XMP1 3.2Ghz 1.35v

A/C says room is at 23c ambient. Very happy with this OC, I'd expect 50-60c after delid so am very keen to try that out. Looks like this may be my daily overclock if temps are sub 60c at load.

 

Wow, just got it then. Makes Prime95 look like a pansy! Hot damn! Literally.

So after a few hours on Prime and other stress tests, I'm going to call it stable at 1.15vcore for 4.6ghz. I'm pretty happy.

 

i went from a 3770k to a 6700k, went from 840 evo 500gb ssd to 2x 1tb evo 850 ssd in raid0 and 16gb to 32gb of ram and honestly it made bugger all difference in my day to day usage.

what i do need to upgrade is my 2x keplar titans.

sandy is not outdated in my opinion. i upgraded as my pc died so it was a forced situation, i didnt do because i actually wanted to. i needed to so i had my pc.

my pc is watercooled with 3x 360 rads and d5 and so on. my last pc was also watercooled.

LinX is a fancy-gui version of Linpack, which is one of the tools used by Intel to stress test their CPUs.

 

Probably not alot of interest for most people but with Kaby Lake, Pentiums become Hyper-Threading enabled. I just grabbed a new Pentium G4560 as a stop gap measure until Ryzen drops then Im on AMD again but thought it would be sweet to see how these go compared to i3 cpus, the hyperthreading making it less of a difference now between the 2 performance levels.

Just about to flash bios for Kaby support and swap in new gpu then I'll be giving it a crank tonite for fun, its only gotta last me a few weeks so.....

 

Whats the difference between i3 and pentium then? i3 had hyper pentium didn't but now they pentium has it as well, there is no difference?

 

TDP of 3watts, higher on the Pentium at 51w and 610HD GPU vs the i3s 630HD gpu and 51watt TDP is about all, no VT-d or AVX 2.0 on Pentium. Meh.

I'm curious to see if an SSD will work in the "wifi" slot
