I have some pretty average Mundial 10" Chef and 6" Utility knives and a Victrinox Microban 10" Chef that I finally took to the stone.
Put them on a 50x150mm flat diamond sharpener that I originally bought with the Mundial's and the edge was very ho-hum.
Grabbed my Dad's Washita Oilstone and what a difference!
It makes me want a 1000 grit stone and a leather strap now.

Thinking now of gluing an old piece of leather belt to the top of the box :)

If anyone is interested, here is what I found on the oilstone 1, 2 & 3.

Wacked together a stone and strop holder out of some loose bits of wood. Works well...rough as but much better than having them all stacked in a box.

My New EDC smoko-room tomato carver, feels awesome in the hand, cuts well. Has only had a light .5 Micron strop on the factory grind which was already bloody sharp. Took a layer off my thumb pad wiping it down with a cloth nappy after stropping.

And a custom Hunting Knife a mate asked me to sharpen up. Hopefully I will get time this weekend to work on this one, I suspect this one will come up crazy sharp.
