Compare the spec to the 7" Galaxy Tab... very similiar...
    • same A8 1ghz CPU
    • same 512mb ram
    • same capacitive 1024x600 screen
    • almost identical size
    • same 390gm weight
    • same 1.3mp front camera
    • same Android 2.2 (although no samsung skin)

    but lacking:
    • rear camera
    • gps (same as Wifi only TAB)
    • 3G (same as Wifi only TAB)
    • no Wifi N (B&G only)
    • Only 4GB storage (TAB has 16GB)

still many hundreds of dollars cheaper though, probably worth it.

not having 3g/4g wouldnt bother me as I can just use my mobile to tether to it, better than buying it on a mobile plan effectively having 2 mobile bills just to access the 3g network, no gps also wouldn't bother me as I have that on my desire, its a pretty good product for its value, a branded apad, sure why not I say.

A bit of an overstatement considering what it lacks...

Not really - compare the 'yumchas' on ebay, and you'll find for the same price point most have a far worse screen resolution, often only Android 1.6 and a lower spec processor. To get the same specs on ebay, generally is >$200.

The Kogan one probably has slightly better aftermarket support if something goes pear-shaped as well.

Also note this has a Capacitive screen vs Resistive on must yumcha's (& Telstra & Optus's for that matter)!

Wonder if it's rootable to slap on CM7 or similar. Would definitely need a 32GB card for it with such small internal memory. I see they claim full 1080P playback too, I'd like to see that before shelling out the cash. I can get my NookColor to go 720P ok, but 1080P isn't working yet.

Website changed, now says 720p video. Shame it's WiFi only though.

Yeah.. i bought one too.. was very keen on buying a pendo pad from dodo but the build quality worried me.. so for $150, figured can't really go wrong.. i guess my only concern is how long the battery will last..

Maybe I'll order one and sell it later if it doesn't measure up to my Nook or Tab :)

And DealExtreme. Same size, res, software, etc. Probably straight out of the same Chinese factory.

Where can you get one for $150 with the same specs? I think it is a good price for what it has. Even the chinese ones with same specs go for $220-250.

    Step 1: load up dealextreme
    Step 2: search for "android"
Step 3: order by release date

And dozens more, with more being added daily (subscribe to their new products RSS feed to see just how many get added and how regularly). I'll be buying that 10" model pretty soon. Looks great.
