Darn, And here I thought I was relatively safe with Aldi,

Well, work's just given me a phone so I just need a cheap plan for a few private calls and park my personal number.

    Any recommendations?

Think I have any hope of getting a refund from for my new SIM? Hasn't been opened or activated yet.

So looks like existing customers are OK until their credit/prepaid runs out. I told my brother to get $18pm postpaid TPG but noooooo he wanted prepaid. Now has lost $20 on a SIM and has 3 weeks to find another :)

    Well,

I'd guess most of the Kogan mobile customers will be jumping to Boost or Aldi.

Brace yourselves, Porting Delays are coming...

Is it worth moving to Aldi when this could also happen to them?

Note, Telstra didn't say they were keeping their contract with Aldi in a long term fashion, just that it would remain for now.

In regards to the year plans, thats Kogan's issue as far as I am concerned. And if they cannot provide the service they will have to refund the pro rata balance.

The fact that IspOne is up shit creek affects the service, but it was Kogans risk to offer yearly plans. And therefore they are responsible to refund the pro rata amount. If they dont, I am sure there will be some kind of action against them and is will seriously damage Kogan's reputation.

They can play dumb or go underground for few days support wise. Then people would just move on to another provider and essentially "forfeit" all the credit they had.
I would say those on year plans are screwed the most unless kogan pulls a hat trick and promptly switches to Optus or whatever.

they could do that, but until people get the SMS from telstra then they can use the service as normal. Once they receive the SMS then Kogan has forfeited their end of the deal and the user is entitled to a refund.

for the sake of $5, I went and picked up an Aldi sim just then so I can port quickly if need be. Then I'll stick with Aldi month to month for as long as I can...

But yeah I'd advise getting a Sim from Aldi or other sooner rather than later as they may get harder to get hold of...
