all the crazies that stayed up half the night to see the moon change colour, stick them in here :)

I didn't get to see the full coverage thanks to the clouds, but they finally parted just after.

I drove over 120km in the hunt for some clear skies!

    Damn cloudy skies Adelaide :(

Nice shot thought :) What's it like 100% crop?

Oh nice. I was up all night.. but for a different reason. I did catch a glimpse of it, but clouds covered it up before I could get my tripod out.

Shots 1-4 were taken with a Nikon D90 and Sigma 150-500 zoom. No #5 was taken with an Olympus E-P3 and Olympus 45mm f/1.8. White balance for shots 1-4 was set to approximately 'daylight'. The white balance in #5 is a compromise between the competing elements and the strange long-exposure white balance in the Olympus.

The next red moon is in April 2014, for that I will up the ISO (1 to 4 are set to ISO400) and shorten the shutter speed. Stuff over 1 second was not sharp enough. That moon moves too quickly.

Perfect night here in Perth. Not a single cloud in the sky. A nice moon in the perfect position... but!!!!!!!!!!

It didn't turn red.. It looked like it just went a dull white.
I was expecting.. a bright red.. and was disappointed.

Was red for me too, even in this shot I took with lens flare (or sort of a lens flare) ... Althought at one stage it was a light grey.

Here is my take on the eclipse. Perth sky was awesome clear, exept for 20min at the beginning of totality when a cloud decided to pass infront.

This is a stack of images spanning about 45min. I used the upside down GND trick to allow more light from the sky in. Am still trying to work out if theres a way to bring out the fainter trails a bit more. Might also add some eairlier shots of the moon before it went red.

Edit: tried brightening the sky a bit

    very cool :)

you might like to make the sky (sans moons) its own selection and try playing around with curves/levels etc on an adjustment layer. you should be able to pull out a bit more detail that way

Use an ND grad with the dark part at the bottom of the frame to darken the city lights. See Matt-Chops thread here
