Bought one of these babies the other week and it arrived this morning.

Its a Trustfire 9XT6. God damn its bright! I was impressed in the day time so I think its going to basically turn night into day. Somehow I think its not going to be particularly practical for regular use but its an impressive light none the less.

Grabbed 6x 18650's and and teh Nitecore i4 charger too.

I might have to grab some of the smaller lights you guys have been discussing too as they are a bit more convenient/practical and I wouldn't let my kids play with the 9XT6. Poke your bloody eye out with that thing.

Maybe a few WF-501B's? I can use the batteries and charger I have already bought then.

We like going camping in the bush so would be good to be decked out with plenty of torches.

I ordered mine on the same day as you - still hasn't arrived.

Though I did order batteries + charger with it, so don't know whether that would have delayed it?

According to the tracking that they provided, mine has been sitting in Sweden for the last 3 weeks:

Anyone up for running a mini wiki for the cheaper torches? I love torches but the cost of some of the "genuine" ones makes me slow down.

I started gathering info for something like this a while ago, but life kinda got in the way. I'd be happy to contribute to one if it were to appear though.

Can vouch for the effectiveness of the defensive strobe on these things. Was walking my mothers fur ball tonight, had a couple of rather large dogs take offence to our presence. Strobe held them off for a good 200m or so while I walked past the property they came from

Well the alternative was kicking the shit out of them, not sure I could have managed that and protected the furball though. Seems to me the torch was a decent way out for all of us?

Well my 18650's arrived today, complete with charger.....how long do they take to charge? I hear about 5 hours, sounds about right?

Thanks, will check that out

Depends.. They usually ship these things at about half charge, so your first charge and a charge from empty won't be the same. The same as charging these batteries might take more or less time depending on their actual capacity compared to what others have.

Basically, stick them in and find out :)

Will do.....I did think they came charged with something....but tried them straight out of the packet when they arrived and torches would not light at all.

Where did you get your batteries from? If they're Chinese cheapies (well even if they're not) you should really be close by whenever charging them up. I don't trust lithiums anymore, so I've gone to Eneloops and therefore AA and AAA torches.

I'm close, I won't be leaving them plugged in overnight that's for sure.

    Grabbed these ones here: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/141238016069?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

    Chinese cheapies no doubt.
