Whats the best way to sort lego sets instead of the whole chuck everything in a big box i did as a kid?

Bought some of those aldi star wars lego sets earlier in the year and few weeks back found em during some cleaning, built em with my 3yr old and she was like "this is amazing"

So ive bought some more from bigw and probs went overboard, even got a little frozen set for her :D

We use resealable bags, get some different sizes to suit set sizes. Divide figures/clear bits into smaller bags and the bulk into large ones. Write the set name/number and bag of numbers on them with a sharpie and then store those in large tubs. I like to flat store the books in the large bags too, or just do whatever suits you such as a drawer, etc.

Lego free Xmas here for the first time in forever.

The Jurassic World sets for my 8yo were a massive letdown, and terrible value for money and the Big Harry Potter sets that I would get the wife are looking like going the same way.

I got the pneumatic logger. :) Probably about half way there so far with the little time I had this arvo, finish it tomorrow.

The thing I figured with lego is to avoid the licensed stuff. Now while I do have the ecto-1, I think it's more the big current movie or franchise stuff is best to avoid. We mostly just have creator, city and technic.

The licensed sets are never the greatest value, but the I thought the Harry Potter ones weren't too bad. Maybe not on a $/piece ratio but as far as the actual quality of the sets, my Daughter got the 75953/75954 sets for xmas and they look great finished and she enjoyed building them.

My daughter got the same 2 sets and I thought they were ok, we looked at the Jurassic Kingdom sets and they were ridiculous though.

Has anyone tried getting the new style of (cardboard?) playmats that appear to have replaced the ABS baseplates? I'm wondering whether we bother getting some for our kids or stick with the baseplates.

I bought the Detective's Office about 18 months ago. Finally decided to build it on New Years Day. My cockatiel decided to sit on it.

I'm going to add 2 extra floors to it. Just waiting on some of those blue (medium light blue???) parts to arrive from Bricklink

Want list for this year so far:

    • Overwatch Sets
    • Harry Potter Castle
    • Disney Castle if it ever comes to retail
    • Benny's Space Squad
    • Chinese New Year Sets (wow this is going to be a pain in the ass to get. Apparently limited one drop)

Chinese New Years Eve Dinner? There's some on Bricklink but no idea if they're good value or not.

So the kids go a HEAP of those Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts minifig series packets over Christmas and have a heap of doubles and a few that they are missing. Where would be the best place to offer the doubles and look for the others? Does anyone else here have them? I've looked on eBay and there are plenty available but someplace other than eBay would be novel :D
