Awesome, absolutely loving it, especially now after the Companion app linked above.
This software was recommended on an OLED subreddit and I've found it much better for me than turning off desktop icons and using Windows' built-in autohide taskbar.
For desktop icons, I've got it set so icons disappear after 5 seconds of no activity, left/right click brings them back and middle-click manually hides.
For the taskbar, it also disappears after 5 seconds, mouse over brings it back. The best thing for me is that there is no sliver of pixels still showing when hidden like in Windows built-in autohide. Next best thing is that when hidden, the pixel space for the taskbar is still 'reserved'. So when you maximise a window and then move the mouse down to the taskbar, the taskbar doesn't then hide part of the content of the maximised window (e.g. a progress slider at the bottom of the window).
New firmware out for the 48" (C1): 3.20.16
Can't find much info about it though, other than this video which goes through the changes....
It seems I already have that firmware. I am pretty sure it came thru last week sometime
If anyone in the market for one, CX 48" currently on special at JB's, $1888 plus free LGTone FN6 earbuds
I have to say I agree with literally everything he says in this video. His nasally voice, not so much.
Or you could look at the 49 Samsung Neo which has near Oled Blacks, 240hz, low refresh rates, great pixel response and heck, it's 32:9.
me who's been using it for 4:3 content.
his point is kinda valid but tbh i find the scaling in the C1 to be better than anything I've had before now.
G9 is a good step in the right direction for FALD monitors. I don't really care for the 32:9 format though and the CX/C1 is about 2/3rds of the price. 240hz aside the cx/c1 has chart leading pixel response times, actual oled level blacks, and no blooming at all (even mini led 2048 zones has some).
I have both (55 oled) and trust me the g9 has minimal blooming. You also really can't run at oled at optimum brightness for fear of burn in. Aside from that nothing beats 32:9 in driving/fps games.
As to which is better it depends on what you want. they both have slight trade offs and pluses.
I use 30-40% oled brightness in sdr mode for desktop usage then switch to HDR mode @ 100% oled brightness when gaming. The screen format difference is subjective imo. I got sick of worrying about game support or workarounds just with 21:9. 4k 48" in my face is plenty immersive
i use mine for mixed use (sometimes i have a console hooked up) and can't be arsed thinking about non standard resolutions.
that's very bright have you done many hours on it, no image retention?
Dunno how many hours, I've had it about 5 months and have used it every day since I got it. No issues yet. Did have a random black pixel for a day and was going to organise a warranty claim but it disappeared.
Most setting guides I have seen advocate for leaving the oled setting at 100 when used in HDR mode.
Any news of 240Hz goodness coming with a panel like this?
HDMI2.1 only does up to 120Hz (or 144 hz). The Neo G9 uses display port compression to get to 240hz at 5120X1440
The 3090 can't run any real games at these rates though (unless they are 5+ years old).
yeah i wish the C1 had DP, but to be fair it IS a tele. lol
Gigabyte have an oled with a DP input. It doesnt do Gsync though.
I think its still limited to 120Hz though.
I got 3.40.10 pushed to my 48" CX today (European model). I was previously on 03.23.35.
Can confirm the no signal found overlay can FINALLY be turned off. Truely life changing, what used to be a constant source of irritation is now a soothing Monet.
Presumably this brings DX 120Hz too, but with no XBox in the house anymore I have no way to check (pretty sure Win 10/11 can't do it?).
Interestingly after the bios update Windows detected it as a whole new monitor (doesn't normally with bios updates) and reset everything (300% dpi scaling, 60Hz etc).
Previous bios showed as LG TV SSCR, now it's called LG TV SSCR2. Hey I got a version 2 TV with a free bios update!!
