LG C1/CX/EX series 48" 4k OLED TV/Monitor

I have a Benq 32" 4k as a second screen and I would definitely consider replacing it with a 42" LG OLED. The 48" C1 is amazing. I cant explain how much better it looks - and I thought the BENQ was not bad

 

Looks like Ill be grabbing a 42" OLED and chopping it down to Ultrawide as needed. I really tried to want the 48 but the size was just too large.

42" for $1400 on sale would be ok

 

Benq is a decent screen for sure, but something about oled's just make things pop.

I've edited my post above with a better way to create a custom resolution - works perfectly and retains HDR, G-Sync and 10 bit (4:4:4 Limited or RGB Full).

 

As if we needed more validation for how awesome these screens are....

 

I'm getting confused with the different OLED models now. Need to find out how the A1's compare to my OG/Older B7

 

HDTV Test often talk about older models when talking about and reviewing newer models.

 

Glad to see there's cheaper OLED's options though, dreaded having to replace mine when it dies given the original outlay for it.

Could even go down from a 55 to a 48 as my wall is TINY! lol

 

Generally it's just smaller incremental updates, plus perhaps a more powerful processor etc. If you get serious about it you can just get the specs of a couple or a few models, line them up and compare directly. Website and YT videos also help.

 

FYI, the A1 misses out on several gaming related features like 120Hz, VRR and HDMI 2.1

Ah, that explains it. A stripped down "entry" model. I got my 48, for exactly the features that are missing from the A1. Maybe their idea to target gamers with the 48 did not work out that well, and they decided to shore up sales by doing away with related features.

 

honestly if you don't want the gaming features this tv is a steal.

 

I don't think there's an issue with popularity with the 48" C1 at least when it is on sale for around the $2k mark, which is regularly enough these days. They obviously see good enough sales and growth potential to further enter the pc gaming market with their 42" model due next year.

The A1 is your "bargain bin" special across multiple size ranges for people who don't want to pay for the gaming features and just want the picture quality for general content consumption. Makes sense they would utilise a 48" model here too to further compete in that budget space. I imagine secondary TVs in living rooms (vs theatre rooms) or kids games rooms tend to be on the smaller size too, which these could make sense for.

I didn't mean it literally, hence the " ". Just the bargain entry level product to their line and targeting people who don't want to spend big on features they won't use. Poor use of phrase in hindsight.

 

I did not mean otherwise, I very much agree. Yet, I bought the 48-inch in addition to my 77-inch LG OLED TV set. I got / use the 48 inch solely for gaming.

 

I think the A series looks like an absolute bargain for people who aren't into gaming. I mean all the nerd features are there for gamers on the big boys, but outside gamers who needs HDMI 2.1, VRR, or 120Hz?

Providing there are no gotchas this is essentially OLED for the masses and I love it.
