Ha ha, swear I only looked a day or so ago and it was $799.

Anyone know how long the $479 will be for?

i think the price dropped 7 days ago.
the v40 is due next week ?? or this month at the latest, so i doubt they'll go back up in price
ebay is still a ripoff, maybe wait another week or two and the online shops will all drop price ~400 (fingers crossed)

i think lg phones dont get as much of the spotlight as the others ??
the 40 has 5 cameras or something ?? wait and see i guess

this is probably why we dont hear as much about it

anyway, it'll drop the v30+ price accordingly, so win for those looking at the 30

Been using my new LG V30+ for two days, this indeed a top end Smartphone.
It's cheap because it came on the market in mid 2017, at $1200- Australian.
A year or so later it was reduced to $800- now available at $479-
Just walk into JB HI-FI and buy one, you wont regret it.
Some of my posey friends were happy to pay $2,000- for an iPhone or $1,500- for a Samsung.
I wasn't, I'm not interested in impressing anyone, I wanted a top end phone at a reasonable price.
That's what the LG V30+ is.

The sound quality from the phone is phenomenal, I've been a hi-fi fanatic for years and I love this phone.
I've put all my flac encoded blues music an a microSD card, plugged the phone into my high quality amplifier and speakers, the sound is as good if not better than my top end turntable and CD players.
I might even use the LG V30+ as a phone one day too !

Have you grabbed av30 Havabigjuan ?
I ended up getting one from ebay when they dropped just after the first jb sale. It has an AU charger so all good on aussie warranty :)
Its a big step up from my old v20. The dac is even better, which i didnt think was going to be so obvious, great screen, camera isnt as good as the v20 though.... But to be fair everyone says use the gCam app but i havent bothered.
Summary - I couldnt go back now

Edit - man I forgot the standout feature. The battery life is freakish. Last charge i went 68 hrs with 3hrs of screen time. But that was down to 5% i dont usually let it drop that low.
So good ive turned the percentage number off on the top status bar. No range anxiety :)
20 minutes on a quick charger and its good for a BIG day of usage

I'm tempted....my Mate 9 has been solid for a long time but I'm wanting to change for the hell of it...lol

Since being made aware of it, I am considering Umidgi F1 Play....or Pocophone F1 (dunno about MIUI)

    Realistically my budget is $500

I require loud loudspeaker as I am partially deaf, screen (6" ish), decent camera (take alot of photos at work), headphone jack, and storage for above photos, docs & music.

Quad DAC not as important as I only hear out of 1 ear anyway...lol

    Decisions, decisions

The loudspeaker isnt the loudest. Its not bad, but you wouldnt have to worry about your one good ear being damaged by it :)
It is nice and clear. Sometimes thats better than loud .....

It's more about the ringtone being loud than anything... sometimes miss it with background noise

Might just be the terrible stock ringtone selection i use - guitar tone.
Of course you can use any mp3 you want :)

I just fired up a sound analyser app on my v20 and ran it against the v30. My room was sitting around 45db as the baseline.
With both phones held out into free air about 800mm apart most of the stock ringtones run around 60-80 db at max vol.
The "simple bell 2" hit peaks of 92db.
With the two phones 400mm apart on a wooden desk top the simple bell was hitting 94.....

Maybe im going a liitle hard of hearing too
