Could just be Lian-Li being honest.

Unlike all those cheap boxes that claim to have Gigabit ethernet ports but are so CPU limited they can't even break 10/100 speeds.

Still, I was expecting somewhere closer to 50MB/s, but 15MBs is way below far :thumbdn:

@15Mbps you may as well download the file again from the interwebs.

anyone got any more suggestion on a similar NAS...minimum 4 bay, 5/6 would be nice.

I've been looking at this one for a while as well ... anyone actually purchased one and have some real transfer speeds?

It's hard to justify the extra $170 to move up to a QNAP TS-410 with the same number of drives but it has a proven performance vs cost value.

Keep an eye on the for sale forum in the next few days ... there might be a QNAP TS-410 going cheap! ;)

So has anyone had any experience with these things yet?

I'm looking at buying a 4 drive NAS and this is a candidate. Just want to get some user experiences with this thing.

I looked at this, but 15Mbps is like 1.5MB/s transfer speed, way way to slow, you could download data faster.... would take a fair bit of time if you put 8TBs of data in it.

I'm now looking at the Lian Li EX-503 instead, its not a NAS, but a box which I'll just connect to my PC via USB3 when I need to copy data over, then move it back to the lounge beside the media player. I just need to work out what suits me best, Jbod, raid 0 or 5 (I made a thread asking :p). I guess you need to ask whether you really need NAS?

Yea, I looked at that one, but I already have a Probox 4 bay usb enclosure (which my bro blew up with a stuffed hdd, hence the upgrade).

I want a NAS as I want to be able to serve video to the media player, as well as the other computers without having to run around with a usb enclosure.
I am leaning more towards a QNAP TS-410 due to the slow transfer speeds of the Lian Li.

Yea I looked at the QNAP too, but ditched it due to the cost of NAS. If I was ok with the price, I'd just get that.

On another thought, some routers/modems has a USB port where you can attach a printer or usb drive so everyone can access it via the network.

So if you just bought an enclosure and connected it to the router via USB, then I'd would act like a NAS right? :)?

Build a small cheap computer and put an free OS on it and load it up with drives.

    Infinitely faster.

Not really, its a router embedded CPU. It's going to be quite slow no matter what you do to it. A basic Intel or AMD cpu will destroy it.
