Lucky enough to have an epic lightning storm down my way last night over the other side of the bay, and conditions on this side where perfect.
I've never shot lightning before so I had tons of shit shots, blurry foreground, blurry lighthouse, missed a lot of the better lightning. Had to tweak some levels to get exposure right (thanks RAW) but end result looks like this.
It's a little blown out in the middle of the lightning but I like it. Had the ISO up a bit, so at 1:1 it's a tiny bit noisy but that doesn't bother me.

Any tips for lightning would be great, I had lots of fun doing this.

    Cheers for looking

Lightning over The Rip - cannot get better than that. Surprised you didn't submit that to one of the papers.

Agreed. This is a better balance IMO.

Apologies for editing without asking first.

(don't worry about the edit). In regards to the framing and why I did it this way:

I like this frame, chaos one side, calm the other. It's really the standard lighthouse frame that a lot of people do when they come here, and to pop something different in there and put my own little spin on it is what I wanted to do.
I do see what you mean about framing, and I do agree to some degree. Maybe next time (hopefully there will be one?) I'll adjust the framing.

    Cheers for the input

I was always told that you had to have ISO as low as possible, but I could never get it right myself. Nice shot though
