I've always considered games consoles unpleasant. Or more accurately, painful. My hands don't fit the controls. My thumbs can't work the analog sticks.
It's not about being better or "comparing sizes" with me - it's about actually being able to play the damn game.

I like consoles as a concept but damn the controllers are stupid. Give it something keyboard-like plus a mouse and games will become enjoyable (especially first-person shooters).

Part of me wants to go through this thread and the other part of me is saying "no, you don't need a time-waster".

Unfortunately, most consoles find their home in the living room which is generally an inhospitable environment for a keyboard and mouse.

And having a console at a computer desk sounds pretty naf in my opinion.

What we need is both. Computers that are also consoles and vice-versa. The real sad face is that there's nothing bloody stopping them other than their need to draw blood from a stone.

The Top 10 Ubuntu app downloads for April 2012 -

    http://developer.ubuntu.com/2012/05/top-10-ubuntu-app-downloads-for-april-2012/

It includes a paid top 10, and a free top 10. Most interesting, the percentage of both lists which are games...

[edit] in the notes, there is a blurb:
The lists of top 10 app downloads includes only those applications submitted through My Apps on the Ubuntu App Developer Site. For more information about of usage of other applications in the Ubuntu archive, check out the Ubuntu Popularity Contest statistics.

I assume this means that standard repo packages are not counted?

Diablo3 runs well in Wine. Only the installer doesn't quite work but that's easy to work around.

I think this is the first humble bundle I've actually managed to get my family excited over. Judging by the sales, everyone else likes it too.

Way to go humble bundle. Giving us what we want, as we want it, and making a nice little bundle for themselves while they do it.

I've still got Psychonauts sitting downstairs in my gamesroom for XBox unopened and unplayed!

I'll be buying it in this bundle, and hopefully finding the time to play it natively on Linux! :)

Seen this post on OMG!Ubuntu: http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2012/06/help-linux-tycoon-more-go-open-source

Seems like he's trying to get subscribers of $4k/month:

Since 2 of the items in his portfolio are games, thought here seemed a good place to post:

Valve's Gabe Says "Yes" To Steam Linux This Year
    => http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTExMzA

Email exchange between Phoronix reader and Valve boss...

Joe Davinson: "Will the Linux version of the Steam client be released to the public before the end of this year?"
    Gabe Newell: "Yes."

    ...And that's all she wrote!
