    Hi All,

Well I've given up on my stubborn resistance to consoles at the ripe old age of 38 and jumped in on the PS5 pre-order bandwagon. The longevity of the PS4 combined with persistently high GPU prices made the value proposition too good to resist. Also the PS4 supported VR and the PS5 looks to do the same shortly.

The selfish side of me is keen to play Cyberpunk 2077 and the two Horizon Zero Dawn games. But the good father in me is keen to get into something that I can play with my son.

-Ratchet and Clank looked perfect until I realised there is no Coop in the PS5 version.
-Borderlands seems great, until you remember just how violent it is
-Halo sounds spot on, if it wasn't an Xbox/Windows exclusive...
-Diablo games will keep him up at night too
-Sackboy might be a go - but also might not keep me as entertained as it will him
-Then there are the Lego series, but surely there is something a little more interesting

I want something we can pick up - play coop - and chip away at it a bit by bit over a few evenings. Anyone had any really good experiences? Don't mind rolling back the clock to a PS4 title.

not much story really....but Overcooked was a great game played with 2 or 3 ppl.

The mechanics are pretty simple to understand so suitable for a 7 year old.

Transformers Devastation was another one I played with my nephew....but can't remember if that was coop...

My partner and I played through a good chunk of Unravel 2, we both thoroughly enjoyed it (would definitely play it again) and it's kid friendly. All the levels are separate, so you can do one and then leave it.

I've played most of the Lego games with my kids, we haven't clocked Lego Incredibles yet as they keep going back to freeplay Lego Marvel Superheroes (2) or the Lego Movie game in amongst Minecraft creative mode.

The lego star wars series is great if you're a fan of the genre and /or introduce your kids to the movies in conjunction with playing. Lego JPark is good for similar reasons but the Star Wats games are better written in my opinion.

Ok so the final list going into the arrival of my PS5 is.... Drum roll please..

    PS5 games
    Astro's playroom
    Bugsnax

    PS4 games
    Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime
Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville™
    Rocket League®
Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition
    Unravel TWO
    Plants vs Zombies GW2
    HELLDIVERS™
    Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince
    Gauntlet Slayer Edition
    Nex Machina
    ALIENATION
    Guacamelee! 2 Complete
Starlink Battle For Atlas (plus 3 extra ships and pilots and weapons etc)
    Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince
    LEGO® Marvel™ Super Heroes
    LEGO® Marvel's Avengers
    LEGO® Marvel Super Heroes 2
    Rayman Legends
    The PS+ Collection (A further 22 games)

If only that PS5 would get a move on! It has been on the road since the 10th! There aren't many PS5 games on the list. But I figured I could check what type of games the kids like before I go splash $109 on a platformer!

Was about to reply with the reason being that it isn't on sale. However. It is. Ok one more game. But then I'm really done until we've given everything in the library at least a solid 2 hour run :)

There's Minecraft "story mode" as well. My kids were happy with the demo on PS4 and I note it's now available on Netflix in a similar format (possibly less narrative choices).

Oh, on second look, lbp3 has compatibility issues with the ps5 :/ will get it refunded tomorrow.

As for Minecraft, yep we want to play dungeons as soon as it's on sale or we are looking for a game. But feel like we have plenty for now!

What kinds of compatibility issues? I play it with my kids all the time but haven't tried ps5 with it yet.
