    Hey all,
I was hoping to ask for your help. I am looking for a new camera for under $200-$400

Needs to be brand new (available from shop)
If it did video that would be great too
Not too fussed if it has alternative lenses. It would be used to take photos of items with green screen in background so a strong zoom wouldn't be required.

I've had a look on youtube for reviews but a lot of the product comparisions are 2nd hand products too which I cannot buy unfortunately, only new. I used to have a Canon 350D about 6 years ago which was great.

    Thanks in advance

i dont think you can buy anything decent new for that budget. perhaps look into lighting and just use a phone (a decent one of course) mounted on a tripod instead? some phones can even do decent macro shots these days.

or perhaps buy a cheap second hand dslr like a 350d. can probably buy one for like 50 bucks. then use the rest to buy a new lens fit for purpose? but if it was me, id focus on lighting. product shots are 99% lighting, 1% camera and post processing.

Thanks very much for your quick reply.
I've got OCD so unfortunately i could only buy new :(

I was thinking of buying the Kodak PIXPRO AZ425 which was $350. It seems to have decent enough specs to get me started.

    ah bummer :(.

that kodak would be suitable. theres only 2 features that you might need, but not deal breakers. it can't capture raw, and macro mode is only available at the widest focal length. if you don't need to take super up close product photos, you can ignore the macro mode limitation.

im also trying to find photos of the bottom to confirm that it has a mounting hole for a tripod. most likely it will have one, but good to double check. *edit - found one. it does have a hole.

they are also cheaper on amazon!

This end of the market has been completely swallowed by phones. I would encourage you to get a way to hold your phone still and give it a try, if the images are going to be shown on screen etc you will likely have the quality you need.
