Low profile bracket, notch the wrong way?

I bought this SFF-8088->SFF-8087 adapter to use in my old chassis. Now I'm trying to put it into my case and it seems the notch is the wrong way around?

First image is a Dell H200 card I bought from eBay, using a low profile bracket. Works fine. The second image is the low profile bracket that came with the adapter, doesn't fit. It's almost like they shrunk down the full height PCI bracket?

The only other place I can find on the internet where someone mentions this is a random super user post from 5 years ago.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to cut/bend the bracket to make it fit right?

It looks more like your case has a reversed slot than anything wrong with the PCI brackets themselves mate - they all match what I've got here in the cupboards - but the one in the first picture is reversed entirely?

That's what I thought too, until I pulled up another random PCI card on amazon: https://www.amazon.com.au/Binardat-Expansion-Self-Powered-Profile-Bracket/dp/B0CN9D5D85

You can see the full height and half height notches are reversed.

No, you're absolutely right - sorry. I went and grabbed a low-profile GPU from the shed and it's identical to the one you initially pictured (what I incorrectly called 'reversed').

However, the other low-profile cards I've got here (USB, SATA) are all like your Amazon one - huh.

    Must be a knock-off thing?

They've definitely just shrunk the full-profile one :p

I wonder if you can fold the screw tabs over 180deg to make it work? That lip might give some grief.

At least I know I'm on the right track that was my exact first and then second thought.

Either that or I will have to dremel in a new slot on the other side of the securing tab.

the metal probably won't like a 180 deg bend (will probably fatigue break)

    dremel out the required notch.
