I was thinking about making the 30mm cannons simulate rapid fire, using a movie prop trick with LPG, a combustion chamber, solenoid ignition and steel pipe in the centre of my turned wooden cannons.

Mechanically, I can do this fairly easily, I have all the tools, materials and resources to make it happen.

Legally, knowing what this nanny state of Australia is like, I wonder if there is a way to get a permit? Is there some condition or waiver available for something like this?

Are there any plans, schematics, or simple mechanical examples of this I can investigate?

    Baz.

I really hate the term nanny state Baz . Some people need protection from themselves.

That's because once upon a time, their own stupidity would remove them from the gene-pool. Now, they are so protected, they are breeding the rest of us out.

Even so, some rules are needed.

Guys guys guys.... this is not like OCAU at all.

Hence why I am asking questions about doing it right - safely and legally.

Respectfully, can we get back to the original questions please?

    Luv ya's.

    Baz.

Easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission.

If you're worried or need to get a billion permits, I wonder if you could flash LED's through a smoke puff? Hmm.

I'd like to find out. I am prepared to jump through official hoops if needed and if it is within reason. If it is obnoxiously difficult to get through the red tape, then I will just let it go and leave them as static replicas.

Still, it would be pretty cool if it was allowable.

Would you be able to sleep at night knowing they're static, though?

With all the other things this ship is going to do, they would just be a bit of icing on the cake.

Does anyone have any info on making this stuff and the permits that may be required?

Why would this be illegal? It's not like you're firing a projectile, and it would be hard for someone to claim that they thought it was a real colonial viper!

Because it would sound like automatic weapons fire, and Baz's backyard might get raided by the TRG.

I think bird scare guns are usually regulated by the EPA and local councils due to noise.
