    Hey Guys,

I bought my parents-in-law an iMac years ago (the classic blue looks like a mini-tv looking one) and I've been asked whether its possible to hook up a webcam to it now so that they can "video conference" through it. Not knowing a hell of a lot about the things, or what software is required, can someone point me in the right direction as to what webcam to buy and what software I'd need to use?

If the iMac has firewire and is > 500Mhz, Apple's iSight would be ideal. Any slower and the iSight won't work so well with iChatAV. They're not particularly cheap though, around $150 - 250, but the quality of the camera is excellent - easily the best in it's class.

If it's a slower iMac or has USB 1.0 only, a Logitech Quickcam USB would be suitable.
