They do this randomly. I was waiting for this sale but was thinking about walking into JB and trying to get the 10% off from them, looks like now I don't have to.

However it looks like they're waiting on stock for the 13" models. Might try JB anyway see if they'll price match.

Will they match this in store, 'coz I want a BTO model?

It says excludes 'built-to-order' machines under the advertisement, so I would doubt they would match it instore, but there is no harm in trying. ;)

    Awesome!!!

I've got a mate who works at JB, he said he can give me the cheapest price tomorrow, I guess 10% is the minimum. That's better than the Education Discount I can get at uni!

Thanks for posting the deal dude. As dick smith were out of stock and I'm an impatient bastard I went into JB and told them about the sale, they gave me the same but slightly better and he also gave me Apple Care for $260.

This laptop is just awesome loving it so far. Now to keep googling must have apps.

    Thanks, mate.

Backordered the 13" i5 and stacked with Moneybackco (surprisingly it's 3.5% off the pre-discounted price).

Just called up DSE. I should be getting it next week. :leet:

Can someone recommend a good slip case with detachable shoulder strap?

JB price matched with Dick Smith but Apple has been a 50% so far.

JB sells them for a slightly cheaper than retail price so there 10% off is thus slightly better.

Has anyone found a decent case for these?

GF just bought a 13' MacBook Air, she loves it but has not got a decent case yet.

    Any recommendations?

    Cheers

    Don't bother with a case.

    Aluminum unibody.

    No need to be precious.

 knew you would come in and post that.

I agree though, cases dont help much.

    Little scratches add character

I just upgraded the wifes 13" MBP to a 13" Air and it's bloody amazing how much difference a few years and a couple of generation of CPU + a SSD make.

This this is better, faster, lighter in pretty much every way to the old machine (except of course for the lack of ethernet, firewire and optical. None of which she uses).

I personally I have a couple of years old 17" MBP but have upgraded to a SSD myself and the thing flies! Unless they come up with something particularly worthwhile in the next revision I will hold onto this one for another year and play the same game next year :p

That 27" screen is *very* tempting if only for all the integrated ports. I'm just waiting for someone to make a breakout box that plugs into the thunderbolt port which provides HDMI/DVI + USB, Firewire, Ethernet etc etc.

Same experience when I moved from a 2008 15" MBP to the 2010 13" MBA. Loving it still.
A breakout box via thunderbolt would be fab.

I was tempted to pick up an air since they announced the new ones but kept putting it off until I saw this

MBA is an awesome piece of hardware. But the guy doing the review was a bit of a muppet at the end, raving on about welcome i5 and goodbye c2d, and neglecting to mention the difference that storage makes (ssd vs 5400rpm!).

I'm still a bit frustrated with apple not having an apple branded gig-e thunderbolt breakout, if not a multi-port breakout. I suppose thats one good way to look after your hardware partners.
