This is great news. I hope it's set in the 1950s or 60s as rumoured before, because I'd love to drive the cars and see the world in that period Since the first Mafia graphics engine was phenomenal, with its only real problem being slightly less than perfect textures, all they need to do is tweak that engine and it will be incredible.
Yea the 50's and 60's would be good, If they make it the 90's i think it will be another shitty GTA game. No fun in driving modern cars, and seeing things you see everyday. Either way it will be as interesting as the first. EDIT: And Multiplayer will be sweet, gang vs gang. One team defending one assaulting to get the boxes of..... cubans or sumtin, steal their drugs or sometin
I just loved taking in the oldstyle atmosphere of the first one, and the cops are good fun to toy with. Also, I spent hours shooting out front tyres on cars before that one corner, and they'd fall off the edge of the cliff... a classic fun spot
Mafia was an awesome game. That was one game where the music was just excellent. You'd put on your headphones and be ported straight into the era. Can't wait until this one comes out. First hope: That it wont be a console port ala Deus Ex: Invisible War. Second hope: It at least lives up to the original... I agree that the engine they used was great, they could just write a new story over the top of it, with some tweaks to the engine and it would live up to the first. Sam
It wouldn't be a console focused game if they wan't it to live up to the standards of the first one. It will more than likely PC -> Xbox + PS2. And Deus Ex 2 is a great game anyhow.
Very excited about this release. I have just re-installed the original about a month ago and working through it again. For it's time, it was, and still is, utterly brilliant. The cityscape, the cars, the music, the lingo! Everything. I LOVED having battles where I would have to dive for cover so he could reload his 6 shooter
hah andy, i'm beginning Mafia. I dislike the taxi queered missions, but i'm onto the main game now.. running to salieris bar etc.. looks good
