great work guys they lok great but imho there should be more difference between a "recommended" and a "higly recomended" that just an extra word, maybe a background change or shinyness or something?

Well I can see why you'd want a little difference between Highly Recommended and Recommended, but if OCAU is goin to recommend anything at all I'd think the thing would be almost highly recommended (ranking of like 9/10), while actual highly recommended stuff would be top knotch (ranking of like 10/10). In my opinion the addition of a star to the logo and the writing would be enough of a change.

Personally I wouldn't want different background changing so that the logo would actually stay to the OCAU colours.

It would be nice if those of you submitting pictures would keep the High-Res pictures as links... and only display the Low-Res pictures... It is getting mighty painful loading these pages now.

    Here are some more:

    winners!

or, err, early saturday morning. sorry, Stuff Happened.

Anyway! Wow, this thread exploded. :) I thought we'd get a few crappy attempts and then one good one which would win. No way, we got a heap of really good ones and it was sooo hard to decide who was the winner. I appreciate the effort that everyone went to and I'm really amazed at how much community participation this kind of thing gets (like the New OCAU Design thread too, amazing stuff). But! There's only one style of logo needed, so only one grand prize winner.. and that is.. (drumroll) Levinet! For his most recent designs:

Now, I know there were a lot more complex/clever options, but the critera of looking good and having the URL readable when the image is very small was a primary concern. In fact, Levinet's first submission of that design was so close to what I had in my head that it was kinda spooky. A shuffle of the URL placement and there it was, perfect.

Special mentions (and a tin of penguin mints, plus OCAU stickers) to:

    gigitt
    nexx
    icarus
    nza
    biatch
    mitchee

Email me with your username and shipping address.. ta.

Don't feel bad if you didn't get a mention, in all seriousness I'd like to give a prize to pretty much everyone who contributed, all the designs were awesome. But then I'd have no mints left for next time. :) So the 'special mentions' were the ones that I thought came closest to matching what I had in mind for a logo, and that I seriously considered using.

So, thanks and congrats to all! Keep an eye out for the logo, too. :)

    Congrats Levinet! Wonderful design.

I just love the fact that the OCAU community is willing to contribute at the drop of hat.

    Nice work guys. :D

    Re: winners!

Few of the design submition would of been done in high resolution and the details would be much larger. But most were resized, so we don't have huge A4 size page images on the forums

    Levinet: Good job bro!

Now we can worky on the purposed new design (it's not a competition)

    Congrats Levinet!

Seems my design sucked hardcore, haha. Tis all good, not like I could have done anything else in the 3 hours I wasted on it. :)

LOL, thanks a lot guys, I really think there were quite a few designs that were really up in the winners circle. akura, nexx, thetron, icarus, buckethead & JunFan (narkov too :p) all had some awesome designs which really gave mine a run for its 'lack of money' :p

I think it's great that we can put back to the OCAU community, while having fun and enjoying ourselves at the same time (and raising our poor post-counts)

Good work to all of you, it's nice to see some fellow graphic designers within this bunch.
