Haven't ever flown them before and for good reason *cough mh370 cough cough*.

Always flown a mix of Thai/Jetstar etc. to get to Thailand. Honeymoon accomodation is booked but are looking at flights to Koh Samui and its looking like either Malaysian Airlines or spend another $350 each for Singapore Airlines.

Has anyone flown MA before? Have they gotten any better since all the drama of 2014/2015?

Yes a few times, was fine, good service, better than Qantas.

Personally wouldn't touch them, no matter how cheap.

If I am flying Thailand it's usually Thai Airways.

Singapre Airlines is great and so is Cathay Pacific

But it didn't happen again... one went missing completely and the other was shot down. Totally different incidents.

There is no problem flying with MA.

To be fair, the only negative crap i've seen about them has been from travellers who are clearly too prissy to be on MA but couldn't afford better. You get what you pay for. Every other review has been great.

I flew with them a LONG time ago (long enough where it would be pretty much meaningless as to how they might be now). At the time, it was a "cheap fare" and I was expecting it to be grim, but it was really good. Nice staff and really good food. But ancient history. Would I fly with them now? Yes. We don't know what happened with MH370.

You mean the one that was flying through airspace that most other operators had designated "NO FLY" zones but decided "ahhhhh fuck it, she'll be right mate, less fuel bro"?

    Yeah totally different :Paranoid:

Mate that isn't right, it was an active route used by many airlines. There was no advice not to take that route... there was another flight a few mins before and another just after, they were fine.

I'd be more concerned about the type and model of the aircraft anyway, not the carrier as much.

Something like 140 other planes from multiple airlines flew that exact route THAT DAY.

Pretty much. I remember people at the time saying "it's just as likely to happen to any other airline", which is true if you ignore the reality that it was only happening to one airline.

I'm a bit older now and prefer to fly Qantas or something with similar safety record. But back in the day I flew lots of a budget airlines through SE Asia, Nepal, Africa, Eastern Europe, etc. It's just whatever you're comfortable with at that point in time.

I'm a Thai and Singpaore Air guy, but have flown Malasyian often enough, and they are perfectly fine, good service, clean aircraft... They're not SQ, but they're not bad at all.

Does that change the fact that huge numbers of flights were still flying over that exact route?

Huge? You mean less than half the normal amount. I'll quote again.

Watch the episode. They say exactly how many flights had flown that path that day already. It's a lot more than 100.

No the burden is on you. You know that sort of comment doesn't fly here.

    Pun very much intended.

I love when people pull that shit, as if anyone cares enough about your opinion to feel obligated to prove themselves to you.
