You sure it's 1.5GHz? They say 1.2GHz. Looks like an amazing gadget for the price, tho. I had no idea they were so cheap.

edit: says 1.5GHz elsewhere on the net. hrm, I haven't gotten into Android yet, this is a tempting first step to see if I want it on my next phone.

Wow, that is amazing. Specs look almost too good to be true. Mini USB and full HDMI! Makes you wonder why we can't get that on certain higher end tablets.

    *edit*

Hmm. Full specs here. No GPS, no Bluetooth.

Also is it a 3200mah battery or 4000? Because that makes a pretty big difference.

cyanogenmod cant even get gingerbread working properly so enjoy your pipe dream there.

HP touchpad is not available and hasnt been for some time so this is a completely pointless post in any event.

im tempted to get one just to have a play with ICS

Hrmm, after seeing how crap the Kogan tablet is, I'm a bit wary with yumcha brands.

So I had a couple of beers before bed and seem to have ordered one. Will report back on what it's like for a total Android n00b if it ever turns up. :)

Recommend checking out the "Ployer" tablet as well.

$20 more, but has an 8" screen and higher 4:3 res. Seems pretty popular online as well.

    $140 from the same site

Also, the $99 HP Touchpads are making a (refurbished) comeback. If someone works out a way to get this here in oz, I'll be in for a group buy!

Wonder if this is any good as purely a book reader?

Was considering getting a kindle / fire perhaps this would function
    just as reasonably.

I think that's a smart move. All the advantages of Android without all the bloatware of Amazon.

Aparently it requires a good amount if modding and tweaking to make it awesome, which shoukdnt be too hard for the owner of an overclocking website

The beauty of android is the hacking of the OS

you would have to be a complete nong to pay ebay prices for a HP touchpad considering asus transformers have been selling for as little as $279 recently.

I ordered one of the basic ones, mainly because it's definitely getting official ICS (from what I've heard the manufacturer is going to be discontinuing the advanced model, and as it's going to be sold locally in a lot of places overseas, I'm expecting a bit of a dev community.)

Only issue I really see is the MIPS processor, and the lack of apps compiled specifically for it, though, for most open source things I'm more than happy to recompile myself, plus I'm mainly planning to use it for internet browsing anyway.

Downloaded the stock 3.2 ROM last night, and it's all deodexed :D So I've started porting the ICS theme from the dell streak to it (the only other 800x480 honeycomb tablet I could find), hopefully should be pretty easy to root too.

So, yeah, I've already got the starts of a custom rom underway :)

Will let you guys know more when it gets around to arriving (ordered it 2 days ago, paid the extra for express post and it still hasn't been shipped. not overly happy, and will be firing then an angry email tomorrow afternoon if it still hasn't by then)

I didn't pay any extra for shipping, but mine apparently shipped on the 10th, which would be within 24h of my placing the order. Will also advise if/when it turns up.
